My husband and I had been wanting to check out this sushi spot for a while. And though we prefer not to have to take our 2 year old to dinner with us, it happens occasionally. The curly haired guy at the door was great and very friendly, but everyone else was overly concerned with what exactly our 2 year old daughter was going to eat. It was obvious every server had been coached by the owners to push customers to order food for their children so they wouldn't be eating any of their parents' sushi. I understand not wanting to waste food and I also understand the need to charge for food eaten. However, how much, if any, sushi is a 2 year old going to eat? I couldn't get my daughter to eat sushi if I dipped it in chocolate and put sprinkles on top. Regardless, before I even had a chance to order something for her the person taking the order wanted to know what we would be ordering for her because if she was going to be eating any of the sushi they needed to know. I was put off by this. I was just going to order her an appetizer because she is very picky and would not eat a full $17 meal. The girl who collected our slip was not impressed that we were ordering that for our daughter and again wanted to make sure that that was what she was actually eating. Again, she is 2 years old. These people have absolutely no knowledge of how to deal with a child eating at their restaurant. On top of it, we ordered 8 rolls and they only brought us 6. After we had finished the 6 we had to ask them to make the other 2 that we had ordered previously. This place has a huge issue and concern with sushi going to waste. I have never experienced anything like it in my life and I eat sushi quite often. They also never refilled our drinks. It was just a bad experience altogether. In contrast, we were just at another sushi restaurant on the other side of Spanish springs a couple of weeks prior with our 2 year old and they never once asked what she was going to eat, they brought every roll we ordered, no questions asked and even refilled our...
Read moreFirst off, I think the sushi is good. I've been to JJ's 5-6 times prior from today, but have always sat up at the bar and the sushi chefs were delightful! Always have gotten the all you can eat for $17.95 a person and have ALWAYS paid 17.95 a person regardless of if I ate all the sushi or not. This time my husband and I sat at a table because we had our two small children with us. I wish I could give zero stars for just the server. It is our Anniversary so we thought we would celebrate and do a fast early dinner because my husband had to fly out tonight for business, so we went around 3:30. Long story shortened. I had to wave down the waitress and let her know that my husband was flying out of town soon, so we had to wrap up quickly. She looked at our table and said"ohhh, hmmm, yeah. I'm going to have to charge you for every roll." I was confused and a little taken back for how rude she said it and why I was being charged? I thought it was all you can eat for $17.95. She went on to tell me rudely we didn't eat all our rolls. I explained we would sit longer, but again we are short on time because my husband has to catch his flight. (Ps we ordered 8 rolls, one kids chicken teriyaki bowl and one appetizer which the appetizer is included with the all you can eat, had water to drink that was it) she just kept repeating herself and was so rude. She went in the back which I thought she was getting our check. She took FOREVER to come out with our check. I had to finally ask one of the chefs if we could have our check. She came out of the back room finally. I opened up the book they give you with the total, and she had charged us $95.00. Let's just say I wasn't happy. I hate that it takes that one person to make you never want to go back, but unfortunately we will not be going back...
Read moreUSED to be pretty decent place to get your Sushi crave on. Gone Waaaaayyy DOWN HILL, won't go back. Daughter ordered hand roll, got cut roll. Wife ordered tempura vegetables -all yams, got a long "roll" not vegetables, finally said something and got "panko" not "tempura" fried yams. I asked for spicy salmon cut roll, "sorry can't do that" a basic roll? (first time ever heard that there.) Miso soup was cold, iced tea was warm with no ice. Wasabi was cut and whipped in a small dab. REALLY can tell this place is hurting. Dropped a $100 on dinner with no questions asked. SPECIFICALLY AFTER paying the bill, my wife wanted to let the owner know, hey were not looking for free food, not looking for a discount, not looking for a coupon, just wanna let you know this was REALLY BAD on every level. Out of respect, my wife asked to speak with female owner outside door so others would not hear conversation; object was in all fairness to give an opportunity to acknowledge the issue and assure next visit would be back on track. We've always been good customers, leave a fat tip and never expressed concern.......fast fwd, the response from owner? Perhaps we just don't meet YOUR expectations. Now that's a really RESPONSIBLE business owner. Perhaps, I'm sorry the experience wasn't that for which you've come back, I'll look forward to making sure your next experience is on point. OR We appreciate the feedback, we are always striving for our customers satisfaction. Well JJ & crew, can't say my wife didn't give you the chance to acknowledge true concerns of a repeat but now lost customer. She gave you fair notice that I would be posting this review and again your response was "we don't care." My final response? THANK YOU FOR SHARING.....!! ...
