We come to Squeeze a few times a year, for birthdays mostly, but sometimes for their early bird specials (best value). Squeeze In claims to have the best omelettes on the planet, it says so right on their menu, and a couple of us were in the mood for an omelet. I ordered the Steve's Mighty Aztec - Spanish chorizo, tomatoes, red bell peppers, jalapeños and Monterey Jack cheese, served with a side of green salsa, spuds with tomatoe/pesto sauce for $14.49. The best part of the dish was the flavor of the salsa and the pest sauce on the spuds. There was a lack of chorizo and the quantity that I did have was lacking in flavor, almost as if the paste was being used. There was plenty of the other ingredients, like the yummy cheese! However, there are much better testing omelettes in town at a better value! Without the pesto sauce, the spuds are dry and also lack flavor.
Emily ordered the Kilimanjaro Ken - A grilled sandwich with bacon, avocado, spinach and Monterey Jack cheese, side of fries for $10.99 The sandwich seemed more like a spinach sandwich with back and avocado added. Not much flavor here! The fries were hard, dry and lacked flavor as well. This was the worse dish of the three.
Courtney ordered the Gare Babe's Denver - You know...ham, onions, tomatoes, bell peppers and cheddar cheese, spuds with tomatoe/pesto sauce for $12.99 The addition of the tomatoes were refreshing, but again the star of the plate was the pesto sauce on the dry and bland spuds. At 12.99 this is not a good value.
Food - 3 Service...
Read moreOur family of four went for breakfast on a weekday. At the time, they only had 2-3 other tables besides us - no large parties - and there were two servers. Service was friendly, but a little lacking. We were never asked how our meals were and never offered coffee refills; we asked for more coffee once we spotted our server again, but that was when we were about done. The syrup was almost flavorless and very light in color for syrup. We were wondering if it had been watered down. Also, I ordered the seasonal pumpkin pancakes and they didn't taste like pumpkin at all. I think I got regular pancakes with the pumpkin drizzle on top. I would've mentioned this to our server, but, as I stated above, we didn't see our server again, after she brought our food, until we were almost done. My husband's Denver scramble was good and my daughter liked her teddy bear pancake. Our son enjoyed the fruit, bacon and sausage (so did the rest of us). We feel like this restaurant's food all around and service used to be so much better, so we were a little disappointed. Not enough so to not return, however.
Anyone who steps in here will see the atmosphere in the morning is far from pleasant. It's noisy in chaotic. Whatever. The food is always good at the squeeze ins. My gripe was the service. I'm going to try not to identify the person because it really wasn't their fault. Management felt it was appropriate to place someone young at the front counter greeting guests. The person acted like they were scared to be where they were. They were clearly overwhelmed and out of their element. I knew this for sure when it finally came my turn to be seated and I was merely told what corner of the restaurant my table was in and asked to walk there with my party myself. Clearly not the end of the world, but speaks to a management style which places untrained people front and center customer facing. This management person can not be very detail oriented. A lack of detail makes me wonder if expiration dates on food and proper cleanliness is being observed at this restaurant. Just because food is tasty (which it consistently is) doesn't mean it was prepared in a clean kitchen with unspoiled food. No accusation, but lack of management skill always manifests in places that are not always easy to detect. Poor greeting and service as customers enter the restaurant, at least I believe, should be more important than it evidently was when I came in on this day. What else is going on in the kitchen when these are the decisions being made...
