La Casa Bonita — Restaurant in Sparta

Decent Mexican food. Chips and salsa were good. Portions were adequate. Service was on point, friendly, and prompt. As for the food, I've eaten here twice and had the birria tacos and the chicken tacos. The birria tacos had just plain corn tortillas , not fried in the sauce like a traditional birria, which made them dry and pasty. The sauce to dip them in was on point, though. The chicken tacos were about the same, pretty dry, and not much flavor. The prices were a bit high compared to other local Mexican restaurants. Overall, it is a decent Mexican restaurant...

The food, service, atmosphere... All of it are amazing. Attentive staff, they even packed me a to-go birria sauce for my gringa because I loved my husband's sauce for his quesobirria tacos so much. Packed my chips up for me too. I'm making all my coworkers jealous with my leftovers for lunch tomorrow. We don't even like cilantro and the salsa was still amazing. Plus the atmosphere is great, the tables are a work of art, and I love the Frida Kahlo hanging up. We used to go to Dobson to get good authentic Mexican food. Not anymore, La Casa Bonita...

Just outside the blue ridge mountain parkway. The restaurant looks good. The complementary tortilla chips and tortillas were a little greasy. The salsa was more like pasta tomato sauce, so not that great. The chicken fajita was good. The birria was good, but there was no consomé (stew) as indicated in the menu description.
