Today was my 4th trip here and kind of a bummer. I buy the bag of whatever steaks are on sale. Employees were always nice enough, the lines long but worth it. This time everything went as usual until I got home and started loading up the freezer. It fit too easily. I mean you get used to buying ~20 lbs wrapped the same and it takes up a certain amount of space, ya know? So when it all went in with room to spare, I pulled it back out and plopped it on the scale, 2 scales to be sure. I paid for 20.72 lbs, I wound up @ 15.8 lbs for the meat, wrapping and the cardboard box it came with. Just a hair under 5 lbs light being generous counting the 15 oz box. At first I thought, maybe a couple of packs were left on the counter, you know something simple. So I called and talked to the meat dept. Someone checked, said nothing was around and that it was probably fat... But even he thought that was a pretty big discrepancy. 1/4 of the meat in the bag was assumed to be fat and blood. Let that settle in a moment. In decades of buying steaks, I have never seen or heard of market ready beef being 1/4 waste. If it truly is waste, wow what a bad piece of meat that was. I'd rather believe my steaks wound up in another box by mistake because human error is easier to accept. Either way, it is tough to not consider this when purchasing meat here now.

Oh Sonnenburg's....how I love thee. For over 30 years, now. It's everything all other non-delusional reviewers have mentioned, and then some. We do have our favorites that we order up from their amazing butcher counter, rarely straying from what we take home. NY Ital-Sausage of course, because it's legendary, but we always grab several lbs of ground pork (for midwestern pork burgers); seasonal celebratory Prime Rib Roasts (bones 4 thru 6); and our favorite: a whole NY Strip Roast--untrimmed--to slice into steaks, usually using a third of it for a nice Sunday beef roast. They are generally $5.99lb, so try finding that at your local grocery store for better quality beef. And, I will always enjoy the rough exterior/interior/staff/patrons, along with the interesting characters hovering outside the establishment. But there isn't too much derelict dodging during mornings and early afternoon... I think there are far worse areas in downtown Spokane, where the tourists frequent...

What a great butcher shop, complete with spices, fresh produce and a deli. A true Spokane gem. Excellent quality meats with fantastic prices. Meat is cut to customers request, then wrapped and delivered to the cash register. They even had bacon not to mention hard salami again cut fresh to the quantity the customer wants. All prices absolutely crushed our normal grocery store and the customer service at Sonnenbergs was amazing. They even have a wine selection

Veracity Gutter And Roof Cleaning, LLC Loves Sonnenberg's

At Veracity Gutter And Roof Cleaning, LLC, we take our job seriously. After all, our tagline is "WE FLAT LINE THE GUNK!" But when it's time to put our cleaning gear aside and indulge in some amazing meat, there's no place we'd rather be than Sonnenberg's Market & Deli.

From our point of view, Sonnenberg's isn't just a market; it's a carnivore's paradise! The wide variety of meats on offer is nothing short of heavenly. If you're a meat enthusiast, you're in for a treat – and we MEAT that literally. With the utmost confidence, we declare Sonnenberg's as the number one meat shop in our humble opinion.

Now, what really sets Sonnenberg's apart is not just the premium quality meats, but the staff as well. They're so down-to-earth that you might just start thinking they were grown in the market's backyard. Friendly, knowledgeable, and always ready to offer a suggestion or two, they make your visit an absolute delight.

Humorously speaking, if our gutters and roofs could have preferences, they'd probably opt for a juicy steak from Sonnenberg's, too! After all, they've got quite the discerning taste. But it's not just about the meat – it's about the experience. From the moment you walk in, the delightful aromas will embrace you like a long-lost friend, and you'll find yourself grinning from ear to ear.

So, if you're on the hunt for prime cuts and a dose of laughter, don't miss out on Sonnenberg's Market & Deli. It's not just a store; it's a belly-pleasing adventure that's sure to make your taste buds dance with joy. Trust us – we flat line the gunk, and Sonnenberg's delivers a meaty punch that's second to none.

Highly recommended! Keep up the fantastic work, Sonnenberg's!

See you soon, from us @ Veracity Gutter And Roof...

My family has been going here since I was a kid. Naturally its the market I use for my meat. I put a phone order in last month on the 15th of june as I was exposed to covid and knew I could have it picked up. I was told there was 5 people in front of me after a week I called to ask what was happening. The worker who answered said its written down but several orders ahead of you. When I asked why it increased I was told I don't know I have been out someone keeps writing down orders. I asked why though mine was bumped from 5 as its first co.e first serve. I was told again I don't know I just returned after a week off. I asked for a manager they identified himself as the manager and said since I been gone I don't know. I asked if this was standard policy because I have not experience this in 15yrs of shopping there. The answer I got was we are short staffed so people who come in are more important. This upset me as I have been asked to call in my large $300+ orders ahead of time by staff to help them get through store orders faster. I again asked when it would be ready and was told again that they are short staffed and it would be soon and they cant do anything it will be done when its done. I said ok waited longer called again and it still wasn't processed. After a month still nothing! This is highly unprofessional and for a manager to not even look into it or do anything is bad business. At this point I am unsure if I would even want to try again. Maybe next time I should bring my sick self and infant in then we can have the right to food like...
