Is it wrong to love a restaurant mostly for the vibe? Sure, I care about the food—we all do—but in this case, the atmosphere stole the show. What really made the night special wasn’t just what was on the plate, but what was in the air: live blues music that took me right back to my roots. Being a true Chicagoan, I remember my first visit to Maxwell Street in the late '60s. Back then, the area was known as Jew Town—not in a derogatory way, but because many of the businesses there were owned by Jewish families. Little factories lined the streets, making socks and all sorts of goods. And, of course, that’s where the famous Maxwell Street Polish sandwich was born. But what really stuck with me were the blues players. I remember seeing legends like Buddy Guy, Willie Dixon, and Junior Wells, just playing on the street like it was the most natural thing in the world. It wasn’t unusual to see big names jamming with local talent. The music was electric—pure magic. So when I recently found myself in Spring Grove and ended up at The Grove for a bite, it was more than just dinner—it was a little trip down memory lane. Great blues, cold drinks, and a laid-back vibe? Count me in. I’ll definitely be back for the music—and maybe a sandwich, too. Being a Photographer I took these photos of...

Decided to check out this new place since I was out to see the July 4 parade, never in my life have I been treated so rudely! I was completely ignored and my order never taken though both female bartenders looked right at me and my sister. We waited patiently, and were shocked when other patrons came in and were asked immediately what they wanted, yet we were ignored, They wiped down the bar and ignored us, served others and ignored us, I began to wonder if perhaps we were invisible, but they saw us and were not so busy they just missed us, we were right at the bar in front of them. Another patron commented when he left and came back that he was shocked we hadn't been served yet. He banged on the bar to get the bartenders attention, and they still ignored us. We are middle aged professionals, I cannot for the life of me understand why we were ignored. The two girls should be fired if that is the way they are going to treat patrons. I will pass on the word to everyone I know, lived in this area for years and years, and believe me it will be to say "don't go there". Totally disgusted, they left a very sour taste in my mouth, may the Neversink inn sink like a rock, with customer service like that it most...

Food has been great and consistent. We've been there two weeks in a row for the fish on Fridays and it never disappoints! The entertainment has been awesome 😎 After our first fish fry, we went back on Saturday and the chicken tacos were ok, very dry and needed more flavor. Beef brisket sandwich was delicious. The second week I got the fajitas and they were AMAZING!!! The baked fish was still delicious. The only thing that needs work is the service. The hostess is very hospitable, but we got the same server for our first fish fry and the second and she never seems happy. Total resting b face and our empty plates sat on our table for 5 - 10 minutes. As a former food industry worker, this is one of my biggest pet peeves!!! I even noticed that she did the same thing to the table next to us. I can't tell you how many times she walked past our table with no eye contact and we tried getting her attention. We'll still go back but this girl needs to change her...

I confess this review will be bias. I know the folks that operate the Grove. They also own Billy’s a beef joint in town that caters. I’ve had bands for birthday parties here with catering. We come for dinner and the gf is a health nut. They offer a lot. Tonight I had an 8 oz ribeye and baked potato $12 and for dessert the beef stroganoff also $12. Lol prices are so reasonable I often get more then I can eat to bring food home. There’s something for everyone but order Sophie’s chocolate cake early it can sell out. My gf likes the salads. Kids like the burgers n wraps. Live outside music is fun and pet friendly. Love this place!

The calamari and crispy fish tacos were good. I thought both were lacking flavor though, especially the calamari. Maybe serve with some lemon wedges? I have to say the calamari were perfectly done. Light crispy breading and not chewy. Nachos were good. Server never mentioned her name and didn't seem very happy to be there. I know sometimes people have off days. Nice place and the rest of the staff was great. We'll be back.
