A True Foodie's Guide to Tampa: Dining and Drinking in the Culinary Desert (Part 1)

When Mom and I arrived there was a band playing, as I walked around looking for an open table. Maybe there was a host, but there was so much going on. Anyways, I found a table and we waited over 5 minutes wondering if anyone was going to say hello or ask what we wanted for drinks. I eventually asked a server if someone was assigned to this table. She replied they are on a rotation and would have to check, but returned shortly and let us know she was stuck with us. I gave her the benefit of the doubt, maybe she was being funny. Anyways, she did take care of us for drinks and meal. I was saddened when she brought us the gator appetizer, I think we had 4 nuggets for $10, maybe gator is more expensive in this area, lol. The servers were good*, but the main course was great. There was 1 server that really stood out, she seemed attentive, funny and a hard worker. Tara was her name. Of the 5 or so servers that kept walking past an overflowing trashcan, Tara was the one that took action. Maybe it was her turn or responsibility; she took care of it though. Attached is my delicious grouper sandwich. Mom was impressed with the Gulf Shrimp basket, size and taste were wonderful.

My very good friends took me there for dinner yesterday. What a beautiful little place on the water. You can pull up by boat. Dine in or take out. Either way. You'll get to enjoy the gorgeous water view. Beautiful homes that outline the canals here in Hernando Beach. Plenty of covered tables for a nice dining experience. Our server Valerie was very quick. She smiled the whole time. She has a very nice personality. They have a great menu. A lot of great items. Making it hard to choose. She was quick to make suggestions and they were great. I had the blackened grouper sandwich. It was excellent. the lobster bisque. with chunks of lobster. It was really a nice experience. My friends and I have been in the restaurant business for over 40 years. So we really appreciated her excellent service and great attitude at our table. Probably one of the best experiences in a long time at a restaurant. Especially since the pandemic. Restaurants are still suffering with limited staff. That's hurting a lot of restaurants. Definitely stop by #tropicalgrill food truck is pumping out some nice food.

If you're in the Spring Hill are and looking for a taste of Maine, then Hernando Beach Tropical Grille is the place. With daily specials that include cold water lobster rolls, lobster bisque, and more, this waterfront tiki bar will not disappoint. The restaurant is situated directly behind a local marina, and has open air seating, with free sunsets! Be sure to check their Facebook page or give them a call to find out about their BOGOs and other specials. Tonight we had the BOGO lobster rolls, and we ordered a clam strip dinner platter for the kids to share. The lobster rolls are served on the traditional top cut texas toast style bun and come loaded with big chunks of fresh lobster meat! The rolls come with your choice butter or mayo, fries, and slaw. You can even substitute the fries for onion rings for a small upcharge, and let me tell you they are awesome! The clam strips were a very generous portion, easily shareable, incredibly tender inside and crunchy on the outside. The service is good, but do expect a wait during peak times, especially if you go on...
