My review is giving an overall rating of 5-stars with the subcategories listed as 4-stars as I always feel that every establishment should strive to perfection. Having that said, I first visited your establishment when I moved to the area 3 years ago. At that time, I was very impressed with the atmosphere, food, and service. I thought at that time that this establishment would make an excellent place to have karaoke. This past Saturday, you finally decided to hold a karaoke event (6/14/25) in the tent area outside of the restaurant. We decided to attend the event. We first had dinner inside (as it was incredibly hot outside). Our server Jason was excellent, atmosphere was incredible again, and food was very good. We then ventured out to the tent to observe the karaoke show. The tent was completely full and the amount of singers at the event was probably one of the largest I've seen in Hernando/Pasco/Citrus county area, as we have made it a point to visit several establishments in these counties that have karaoke. Kudos to your Manager to reach out to Output Entertainment as we feel they are truly the best karaoke KJ's we've seen in this tri-county area. It was also evident to see the wait staff working diligently to try and please not only the outside tent customers, but also the inside restaurant which also had several tables filled. I was amazed to see how hard all of them were working. Unfortunately, as with dealing with such a large turnout, there will always be some issue and that night brought about my observations of one gentleman who was wearing a cowboy hat, professed to be a "regular" and "multi-millionare" who we observed was visibly upset. We saw the Manager to do an INCREDIBLE job trying to deal with this gentleman, even getting touched by him, which personally I would not have tolerated. He was in the face of the Manager, the host of the karaoke event, and several patrons. Whether he was a "regular" or not, I hope this establishment reviews their decision on wanting to keep his patronage over keeping a family atmosphere that all can enjoy. It could have turned ugly pretty quickly and there were many families with chidren around. Again, your Manager did an incredible job quietly pulling the man out of eyesight of the patrons to further discuss his issues. I would highly recommend you make karaoke a regular event, especially on Saturdays (since most establishments run live shows and you would be the only one in the area that runs karaoke on Saturdays). My recommendation would also be to hold the event indoors in hot and/or rainy days as it would protect the equipment used for such an event and be more comfortable for patrons attending the event for that purpose. Thank you for hosting this and we hope to become "regulars" if you decide...
Read moreImagine if you will, a place, on a road with no snow, in a town with few springs and small hills. Where you enter for food, fun and games. And a brew or two. You've just stepped past the mirrored door into this place... called Rookies...
Living in a mental state torn between reality and fantasy, I love to renew my 'man' card frequently with my Bodaciously Fab Fiancée. Hey! I'm talking about that 'other' stuff. Getting out, hitting the town, grabbing a bite, grabbing a coooooooold one...ahhhhh! That's what I'm talking about.
She loves Rookies. I love Rookies. We love Rookies. See how that works?
Siri appears to love Rookies, too. It seems she sometimes senses our food mood and GPS steers us South on the Suncoast to Spring Hill Drive, with a hearty "You have arrived!" as we slide into a spot outside.
GPS could also stand for Go Pester Sherry! G P S ...G o P ester S herry! Ha ha! We've known that feisty but nice, blonde tsunami of service with a beacon smile for years! She's fun and she always makes ya feel happy. And that's all before you even get a menu!
My favorite menu item? You won't believe this, but it's The Green Monster Salad. It's topped with ham, turkey, American, Swiss & Provolone cheeses with tomatoes, red onions, cucumbers, chopped bacon, sliced hard boiled egg and crumbled blue cheese. With some cool Ranch dressing drizzled on it's definitely THE BEAST of The Best!
My BFF loves the finer things in life. She loves Yours Truly, nice cars, a great glass of vino and an occasional hamburger. Wait! What? A hamburger?? Yep! But it had better be a gourmet burger. No fast food glued moo...
Fab One really likes Rookies' First Down Burger. It's a grilled Angus burger with all the fixings. BFF gets hers with Cheddar on Ciabatta Bread. I see that look in her eyes(which I know all too well...ahem.)...pure elation as she elevates that elixir of eats to her lips. Touchdown!
We've had most every item on the menu, and they are all Super Bowl MVP's! And with Sherry as the coach, commentator and quarterback you're definitely on the winning side!

Read moreMy family has been going to Rookies since it opened. However today will be the last. The food was great and Kara was an amazing server (which is the only reason why I’m not leaving just one star). The reason we won’t be returning is because of another patron who thought they could aggressively yell across the restaurant to us “shut your child up.”
Sure my almost two year old was enjoying his hot dog, until he wasn’t anymore and decided to communicate it in the only way he knew how to- by crying. We were trying soothe him when this older man decided he was going to be beyond rude and make the situation, that was awkward enough, worse.
My husband who at this point couldn’t believe his ears, walked over to the man and asked him what he said and explained that our child is a baby and doesn’t know any better. The man just sat there and said he did nothing wrong.
At this point the restaurant patrons are just sitting there and the staff are wide eyed and not doing a darn thing. My husband leaves with our child, while the food we already paid for was left with only one bite taken, basically uneaten. (We get our bill before we eat so that as soon as we are done we can leave, it works for us). Still no employee tried to defuse the situation.
Our waitress then brings us boxes and said she tried to get the manager. It was too late, the meal was ruined at a place we usually enjoy as a family. When the manager did finally return he said he had no idea what happened and just stood their with a pad of paper.
We have been at this restaurant, which is a sports bar, when drunk people are screaming. When children are running around laughing and screaming, simply enjoying themselves. And not one time have we seen this before.
Unfortunately we will not be returning, not because this one man put a damper on a meal, but because of the fact that NOT ONE employee checked in on us. Not one employee asked that man to not yell across the room at a child.
We thought this was a family oriented establishment— note to...
