Spring Valley Tastee Freez — Restaurant in Spring Valley

This place has my favorite vanilla soft-serve! I've been going here since I was little and try to visit at least twice a summer. Their Oreo Flurry is great! I'm also a huge fan of their cherry slushie and banana split (I prefer the boat instead of the upside-down, but that's just me).

I've only ever had an issue with one lady where I went during the weekday and she kind of assumed that I wanted an upside-down banana split without letting me finish the order and walked away to start on it. I was rather upset with her, because it put me in an awkward position since it wasn't for me, and the person I was getting it for likes it a certain way in a boat.

Other than that one bump, I've never had an issue with any of the girls there. They're all sweet. And yes, they are cash only, but this isn't McDonald's. You want a place the locals...

Ordered two items, one of which was a vanilla shake with lime flavoring in it. Similar to a frosted lemonade but with lime instead. The girl who took our order was nice and polite but after we ordered an older woman came to the window a few moments later and told us she wouldn't make it because it was "disgusting" and that she wouldn't give us our money back if we didn't like it. Then she tried to explain to us what we were asking for like we were stupid and she finally stopped nagging us after me and my girlfriend both had to tell her we wanted it more than enough times and that we've ordered that same item before and it's been fine. I've been coming to tastee freez for almost 20 years and this last visit definitely makes me rethink...

My wife and I stopped here on our way back to Peoria. We were pleasantly surprised by how good everything was! Be aware that it is a cash-only type of establishment. Don't let that deter you though! It was great. I got a chocolate dipped cone and she got a birthday cake dipped vanilla cone and we were both very happy.We will definitely be back. And my wife says to the lady who tried to pay with the $100 bill, haters gonna hate. It's good. Don't let other reviewers fool...
