For context, I normally rate anything that I view as good service and good food right at 3 stars. I really dislike having to rate everything at a 5 when it meets the standard and really prohibits me from being able to reward excellent service with an excellent review. I also generally try to avoid rating places I've only been to once since the reviews always feel compromised; if you had one good or bad experience you may not know that consistency is an issue.
I rate almost nothing at maximum for dining. In my opinion, to be a 5-star candidate, you have to be nearly flawless in everything including: food quality, speed of service, staff presence and approach, customer experience and ambiance of the venue. I want to be clear that I don't offer my opinion lightly.
I regularly visit Apple-licious to meet with men from my church who I mentor with or with my wife for a Sunday brunch. I've stopped in regularly just to buy random pastries to bring home to my wife and kids to enjoy. I'm currently on a religious fast that has prohibited the eating of sweets for the last 90 days, and it's been a terrible experience for me bringing these apple-flavored delights home with no ability to eat them. Over those past 90 days, I've been in her shop nearly weekly if not more often, so I'm truly tortured.
Gloria, her staff and the theme of the restaurant are exceptional. She, herself, is kind and generous; always walking around asking if we're enjoying the food and sharing what she has going on in her kitchen. She clearly holds her staff (who mostly appear to be high schoolers or young adults) to a very high standard of service. They've been faultlessly courteous, direct, kind and helpful: providing recommendations for anything I might want to try and generally being an absolutely positive presence. I've enjoyed talking with her and the staff while waiting for food, or at my table, and they have been excellent in both customer care and personality.
The food is superb. I've tried nearly every dessert that she's served and love almost all of them. Certainly there have been a few I've liked less than others - but they've always been to a high standard of preparation. The bistro food (such as the sandwiches and appetizers) have been just excellent, and she smokes her own meats in the back of the restaurant with an electric smoker. Everything is prepared by hand, is delicious, and clearly made by someone who loves her craft. While nearly all of it is bad for you, you won't regret consuming anything she provides you. The apple pickles (coined as 'apple-ickles') are one of the oddest food experiences I've ever had, I don't know if I love or hate them but I can promise you won't forget them.
The restaurant has always been spotlessly clean and airy. She has decorated it with apple-themed and various Christian motifs everywhere. All of it, in my opinion, is tasteful and not overdone. It's open and light with only the occasional annoyance of a fan that reaches resonance and sings out from time to time. The music is generally Christian-themed but is light and non-intrusive.
The only minor issues I could lay out are: Occasionally it takes some additional time to prepare the meals, but that has never bothered me. Some of the items are a touch expensive but I've never batted an eye paying for them. Occasionally she runs out of the more popular items, especially the pickles - but they're back in stock in no time. The apple-ickles need a better name
All-in-all, if you love apple-themed food or high-quality bistro dining, this is a place you shouldn't pass up. I have recommended it to everyone who lives in the Spring area looking for something interesting to try. My wife advocates for this place in the school nearby since she's part of the staff. I hope we've done her at least a small service in getting her some additional foot traffic because Gloria and her staff...
Read moreYall know it’s a hit when I give a 5 starts on everything. So my friend sent me this spot last week. So after we both got down with our morning workouts we met up here!! When I tell you PURRFECT spot it was purfect.
Extremely clean and super cute. The decor is Green Apple inspired and it’s everything.
We were greeted and helped expeditiously. We were given first time customer treatment and we so appreciated.
Everything is made in house except the macaroons and I ain’t as at that (they are a lot of work). As a baker I can appreciate that.
There are so many treats to choose from. We got 3 kolaches (sausage, ham n cheese and pepperoni and cheese) let me say do not come in expecting your normal kolache because these are different. They are not just bread its hard to really describe but the kolache vibe is there but they aren’t as heavy as a normal kolache bread and the are packed with filing (meat cheese etc) Do not miss out on trying one. You’ll understand once you get that first bite.
We ordered a couple candied apples, a turnover, apple pastry and this amazing cookie apple muffin thing. Let me say that everything looks like it would be packed with sugar but surprisingly all the goodies we sampled were flavorful and not overwhelming with sugar. The cookie apple muffin was my fav. It was crumbly, light and the apple filling was a delight. The turnover was great as well nice and flaky. Honestly at this point I don’t think you will go wrong with anything you order.
Lastly the coffee was amazing..I had the caramel apple and dessert coffee. Just the right amount of sweetness.
We had the pleasure of speaking with the owner and she was so welcoming and telling us about her vision and dream. So yall don’t sleep on this place! There is enough seating indoor and out. You can call in and place an order. They do offer bulk order but you need to call in advance and get the particulars on that.
I’ll be back some time next week to try out their lunch because BABY they smoke their meats IN HOUSE!!! Yesss you read that right…SMOKED MEATS IN HOUSE! Plus I need to get me some Of that APPLE REFRESHER!!
Again like I always say..this is my opinion and you need to pop in and give...
Read moreFirst time trying Apple-licious Bakery. Read the menu before going and had my order ready to place when I got there, only to find out half of what I wanted wasn't "available." They open at 7 and I was there at 7:45. At what point can I expect what I want from the menu to be ready to buy? I wanted the Florentine quiche, but had to get the ham and cheese. I wanted a sausage kolache, but had to get the brisket. Luckily the apple cider donut was ready. The quiche was fine. The flavor was solid and the eggs were dense with a decent amount of ham. The kolache was... weird. The dough had a good texture and taste, but the brisket had no flavor, like at all. I'd also say the meat was dry. The donut was dry and chewy, however that's possible. It has less the consistency of a cake/cider donut and more of a thick sugar cookie. It's hard to describe. The flavor was sharp and almost bitter. I don't recommend it. Once I placed my to go order, I sat down to wait for it. I was only one of two people in there. Unfortunately I sat next to a very stinky mop that was leaning against one of the tables because they hadn't yet finished prepping the dining room. The person who took my order was nice and the place looks cute, but I highly doubt I'll be back. I understand running out of food at the end of the day, but not having anything ready when you open the doors, especially for a bakery that has them listed on a set menu, doesn't make...
