We live in South Sioux Falls and we were excited to hear about a new Pizza Place opening close to us. In the beginning we liked going to Charlie’s as we like to sit in to dine. In the early days business there seemed to be real slow so we felt we had to support it as we wanted it to succeed. And we liked the Pizza. We like to sit in a booth and they have 3 really nice booths in the Bar area, which we prefer. On one occasion we wanted to sit in a booth, but the requirement was that you needed four people to get a booth, we were the only patrons in the establishment. So we had to sit at a table for four? Every time we went in there it sort of felt that we were bothering them and the atmosphere there was never very friendly, but we continued to support Charlie’s with bringing family and even neighbors there as we liked the Pizza. Last night (Friday) we decided to go there around 07:30pm and to our surprise it was quit busy which I was excited to see as we want this establishment to succeed. Waiting for the hostess to seat us we could see on the Bar area side there were only two tables that were open at the far end of the bar. The hostess wanted to seat us on the restaurant side of the business but it was full of family and children. We did not prefer this so my wife told the hostess if there is not room in the Bar side we would leave. Then she decided we could sit at one of the far end tables as there were 2 open. The Lady behind the Bar brought us two menus and asked if we had more people coming and we stated no, we were on a date night. The next thing that we experienced was this tall goofy looking man with a headband on came over to the table and stated that we could not sit at our table as it was for six people, even though there were no other patrons waiting to be seated. He stated that we had to leave and I responded while at least you had two people at this table and now you have none. Is this how you treat a good customer? We departed and went over to Looks Diner and we’re treated like royalty and when we left we must had been thanked by at least 5 employees for coming in. Guess where I new Pizza Place is ? We will never patronize...
Read moreMy family and I had high hopes for this pizza. The previous pictures looked good. Sadly, our experience was not. We went on an early week night, and there were only 2 other families(4&5persons) seated. It took our server nearly ten minutes after giving us a menu to come back. We(6ppl) ordered both our drinks, a salad, pizza, and upon her suggestion an order of cheese bread. Our drinks and salad came quickly it was anothere 15 for the cheese bread, which was 3 slices of french breasd with cheese. When it came, we sadly realized we would be dividing it ourselves. After waiting to see our waitress again, we had to ask for a knife🤦♀️. I don't think she was a new waitress, and she wasn't a phone distracted teen. She just wasn't concerned about her job or even offering her customers drink refills. Our 2 pizzas finally arrived after 35 minutes. We first noticed they were bubbly fresh from the hot oven, Then we started serving, and noticing the crusts were really overcooked, crispy and one quarter of the kids cheese only was so bad my granddaughter was only able to eat the front half of the slice😕. Maybe Charlie's Pizza had an off night. Maybe the cooks are different on weeknights, or maybe on early weeknights, they're just exhausted. I gave two stars for the overall restaurant decor, cleanliness, and clear views of the multiple t.v.'s. I also gave two stars for the food because it was okay and we didn't get sick. I wish we had taken pictures of the...
Read moreWe went to Charlie's Pizza - Sioux Falls for the first time with my family, parents, and Grandma.
Delicious pizza!! Loved the variety of specialty pizzas. You can order half and half of their specialty pizzas if you want to switch it up. I enjoyed everything but I will say the pepperoni/sausage with alfredo sauce and the Humphrey Bogart were what I enjoyed most.
I reached out via fb messenger the day before to ask about precautions for our daughter with Celiac. Evan said he would be the manager on that evening and to ask for him when we arrived so he could oversee our daughter's pizza and make sure all precautions were taken to avoid contamination. It warms my heart when we can add a new place to our list that we can trust. Kayla--our waitress-- was just as wonderful! She was always a step or two ahead of us with napkins, refills, etc. Plus she was just a genuinely nice person and patient with our group of 7 while trying to put together our pizza order!
If this makes it's way back to the staff- thanks for the great experience! We had a great time and our family will...
