We've eaten here a few times before, when visiting family in the area and never had an issue. Today, my wife and I went for lunch. We knew the procedure - take a plastic plate, select what you want, have it weighed then go and eat.
The guy at the counter jotted down the figure from the scale; my plate showed as 11.72 but I don't know if that was an actual weight in ounces or a dollar amount. I was about to ask him but my wife asked for two cups of water and neither he nor a girl working in the back area seemed to understand what we wanted. How are people allowed into the country who can't speak or understand basic English??
It took about two minutes to finally get them to comprehend and by that time I realized there was no point in asking questions about the scale figure. One thing that has always bothered me is that they don't give you a copy of the figure and when you go to pay after eating, how do they know which figure refers to your plate. They seem to charge randomly if you don't get the all you can eat buffet.
Unfortunately, although some of the food is recognizable to non-Brazillians, the fact that nothing is labelled makes it difficult to know what you are actually getting. Today, this was a bit of a disaster as both my wife and I selected what we thought was well cooked fried plantains. It turned out to be pieces of pork with a very thick layer of skin and fat. Yep, I know, it was our fault for not being more careful.
Then I saw what definitely appeared to be some sort of grayish looking mushrooms, not unlike the type you would see in an Asian meal. When I bit into one, I discovered that it was what seemed to be chicken hearts. They went in the trash along with the pork fat. If you do decide to eat here, bear in mind that fat and bones etc., contribute to your plate's weight.
Overall, they have a decent selection of food but the quality does tend to vary and as others have already said, their prices have increased quite a bit. I don't know if they provide the same dishes each day but it would be very helpful if the food was labelled in English, Spanish as well as Portuguese. Either way, we won't be...
Read moreI went yesterday with friends to the Banana Brasíle on Boston Rd in Springfield ,MA. It was nice and clean, but didn’t gave much atmosphere. Kind of like a cafeteria sitting situation. The staff didn’t seem to speak English, and seemed very timid to deal with someone speaking English. The young waitress spoke, what I thought was Spanish to us, and when I told her that we didn’t speak spanish, she said she wasn’t speaking spanish. There was a man there Dr.DiCampo , who was running for Mayor of Springfield, and appeared to be the owner of the place. He was hot on getting Carnivale from Rio here in Springfield. Perhaps ,the staff was Brazilian and spoke only Portuguese? We all found that a little discerning as we were not sure if they understood us or not. I am on keto, so I was happy to be able to select whatever protein they were grilling, by the pound, instead of paying $25 for the buffet. The buffet looked great, and my non keto friends thought the food was very flavorful & fabulous. The meat ,that I had was delicious and perfectly seasoned. I paid $17 for what I had. Great food, reasonable for a buffet and the range of meats they cooked over a flaming charcoal oven.. worth a try. Definitely, we...
Read moreI ordered DoorDash to try this place for the fist time. The driver brought me the wrong order and after speaking with the driver, they assured me that they confirmed the order was for PhillipA (Me). Now I had to drive there myself, which is what I didn't want to do because I was working from home today and very busy. When I arrive and let them know my order was wrong, they just chuckled and blamed the Dasher. I explained that I was very inconvenienced because I was very busy, working from home... they just chuckled, smiled and blamed the driver again. I explained, that at this point I paid DoorDash, tipped a driver and STILL had to come pick up my own order, and asked how they were going tk make it right. They simply said it wasn't their fault. This made it very clear to me that they don't care about their customers or their business for that matter. I will never eat here again and I'll make sure everyone who asks me, knows how I feel about this establishment.
Word of advice... Happy Customers always come back, even if the food isn't that good, but Good Food will never keep an...
