Well, I just had to get up and leave this place.
I’ve been traveling for work for days now. Was looking forward to enjoying a nice sit down meal. Gave myself an hour and a half to relish in the atmosphere and decor of this iconic place.
It was packed like any other Cracker Barrel. Got a table for one fairly quickly. Once I sat I waited about 10 minutes to be acknowledged. Waited another 10 minutes for my first cup of coffee. Finally had my order taken: medium well steak with loaded tater tots and fried apples.
I waited over 30 minutes.
People who got there at the same time as I did or a little later got their food, ate, and left.
I finally see my waitress pass by me with a tray full of drinks and some food. She drops the drinks off at 2 other tables next to me before making her way to my table to drop off my food.
My food should’ve been dropped off first, not making its rounds to two other tables before reaching me, being exposed to other people’s germs and getting cold.
As she puts my plates down and I see a dry charred piece of meat amongst some sad sides, she asks, “you didn’t want that well done did you?” I specifically asked for medium well steak so that my food didn’t take forever. And yet, it took forever.
I kindly said, “no, I asked for medium well”. She says, “I’m so sorry, I’ll have them fix that for you.”
I respectfully said, “actually, can you cancel this whole order? I waited a very long time for my food.”
She left the food on my table and walked away. Including the steak she said she would have the kitchen “fix”.
I got up, and walked out.
No words. No scene. No show. Just left.
Hungry, hangry, annoyed, frustrated. Disappointed. Didn’t feel the need to pay for the endless cups of coffee I kept getting to distract me from my food being so delayed, either.
Didn’t make a stop at the gift shop like I had planned, to buy souvenirs, like I usually do when I visit a Cracker Barrel.
Now I don’t have time to go get a nice sit down meal because I’m on a work trip and have to drive to the next city.
Thanks for nothing. Was better off eating the free breakfast at my...
Read moreThe worse experience I've had in a long time with a restaurant. General manager Mike Adams and his night manager Neil have absolutely no customer service skills. Being a district manager with Wendy's for 25 years I know what customer service is and how to fix a problem when a customer brings it to your attention. I spend over $100 a month at the Springfield, Ohio location, but no more. I'm not one to complain usually because I know how difficult the restaurant world is. I called 2 months ago and they had to replace our family meal due to over cooked chicken. I've ordered probably 8-10 times since then with every single order missing something and I didn't complain. 2 weeks ago they missed an entire family meal side item along with blackberry jam and not even enough utensils to eat with. I called 2 weeks ago and spoke with Neil and he said he would replace my order the next time I came in to pick it up. I called in my order tonight and Neil said he wasn't going to replace the meal only the entree meal. That's not what he told me on the phone or I would have just drove the food back that evening and got my money back. So, I had to listen to Noel call me a liar as well as Mike Adams. Let me know when the Springfield, Ohio location has a General Manager who knows what customer service is and can get an order correct, until then I'll spend my...
Read moreWaitress was a seemed to want to rush us along to order. We were a party of 7, and everyone wanted biscuits. She just put some biscuits in a basket and brought them to the table. There was not enough for us each to have the 2 biscuits that are supposed to come with the dinners. Never had a chance to ask for more because our waitress would just speed around and not really STOP and see what we needed when checking on our table.
When our food was brought out, it was a mess. Not everyone received the correct sides, and our waitress even said she was not sure who ordered what, because she did not have her order pad. I tried to get her attention many times, and she just zoomed past us. My father wanted more biscuits and so I ended up just giving him mine.
Erica was our waitress. She was friendly but so short and hyper. Like she was just rushing everyone. My son wanted another beer, but, like I said, we could not get her attention.
The food was good, except for the mashed potatoes and gravy. Why does there have to be so much black pepper?!?!?!?!?! My dad could not even eat his mashed potatoes and gravy through all the pepper. I think that if people want pepper, it is on the table!! I do not like loads of black pepper. It literally made the gravy spicy hot! YUCK 🤮!
I have always loved eating here. Hopefully,...
