My husband and, I went into Dairy Queen for a milkshake after the Thurston highschool graduation.while, I was there my leg started throbbing I have stitches on my lower leg from a fall and hadI removed my shoe as the pressure from my sock was causing discomfort. I had gotten a small amount of the milk shake on my hands and I couldn't put my shoe back on.without getting my shoe sticky..My husband said just go in the bathroom. We were pretty close so I went to wash my hands off. I noticed the bathroom needed a code to use it. I asked the girl behind the counter for the combo she acted like she didnt know what to do. She looked at me nervously?? I explained I wasn't able to slip my shoe on as my hands were dirty asking her a second time for the code she once again acted like it was an uncomfortable request. I said my husband and I just had a milkshake and I needed to wash my hands then she told me the combo and I wasn't sure if I heard her right as she apparently really didnt want to give me the combo. She then verified I had heard her right and then said , Wait do you have something on your hands? I said Yes that's why I need to use the bathroom. She then told me to go get a napkin to wipe my hands before using the bathroom. I asked can you just open the door if you don't want me to touch it. She acted all uncomfortable looking around and stammering not giving me any answer at all.. I then turned to a customer who had observed this if she could put in the combo so I could wash my hands. The older woman just brushed past me and said No and the ladies looked at me like I was trash. . Im sorry that I spent money and caused you grief by asking you to help with a code that as a paying customer I was fully expecting to use. I guess my temporary missing shoe made me less worthy than those ladies who Im assuming we're either the fashion police or maybe they thought I was a homeless bum who was going to rob them in the bathroom?? I FELT like I had no right to be there.THEY DIDNT EVEN KNOW ME.. treated like I was nothing. I will not be returning to the Dairy Queen on Main out Thurston in Springfield again. THIS...
Read moreReading other reviews, and an unnatural love of blizzards, I had to see for myself. As a general manager of a local business which serves food and excellent customer service, the first thing I noticed was upon arriving at the drive through speaker was "be right with you." Now this is my first visit to this location, shouldn't they say hi or welcome me with some sort of greeting? Along with no greeting I could tell the girl on the other end had no smile on her voice, in fact I felt as if me arriving there was an inconvenience for her. Once I got to the window I was again not even greeted though acknowledged with the total for my order. The miserable expression on her face let me know she might be making less than minimum wage and me bothering her while she was on the clock was my fault apparently. She took my money, with vinyl gloves on her hands, gave me my change, then made my blizzard.... with the same pair of gloves on that she just touched no less than 3 separate bills and a coin just a moment before. I wasn't even making it a point to observe how she did her job so this means everyone else she has done this in front of thought the same thing. Yummy! I received my order quickly, and the gal who handed me my burger and fries was smiling and friendly though she only said a handful of words to me I could tell she was probably management. Now from a management point of view, the staff in this location needs to be told exactly why they make minimum wage which is their lack of caring for their guests with a friendly atmosphere and lack of realizing that a quick hand wash and glove change can make all the difference on return customers wanting to give them more money by coming back. For now I'll return to the other locations until I see no less than 3 reviews on here that they have cleaned up the way they operate at this location. Also I talk to many people in the community about how others do business in the area and can guarantee this experience...
Read moreThis place is so close to nailing it aside from a couple things. I'll start with the goods, the food here is always well made and well assembled. It's always nicely clean. They get your food out quickly, even when I order my large onion rings that they have to fry to order I still get my food fast.
Negatives are small complaints but they have been bugging me enough to leave this.
Most of the workers are great, but the gal who works the window (not the blonde nice gal but the brunette) always manages to wipe the smile off my face, she just seems very annoyed that you're there. Not outright rude but definitely borderline, really ought to be doing something else than being the face at the window... The other employees are are all generally great.
Second negative, they are weirdly stingy about the ranch, if you don't ask for it specifically when ordering onion rings they just send you off without anything to dip your rings in. I worked at a DQ before so I know one ranch comes with the small rings and two ranches come with the large rings. But here you have to mention you want it while ordering, they do not ask you at the window, so if I forget to specify I want two ranches while ordering then I end up having to come back to the front and walk in to get my ranch. A few times they even tried to charge me for the ranch too, not like it's expensive, but it's silly nickel and diming because two are supposed to just come with a large rings. Giving ranch with rings is supposed to be done by default!
Fix those two things and this location would be...
