Haya has great options, and at $30 per person, the all you can eat will definitely fill you up without breaking your budget.
Considering many sushi places price their hand rolls from $6-20+ per roll in the area, you can easily get your money's worth here.
All you can eat: the way it works is you get a lunch or dinner menu (dinner has more options but costs more). You order as many items you want, although excessive food waste may end up being charged extra on your bill, so aim to order and eat everything you order.
The staff will give you a paper and you write everything you want under Kitchen, Sushi, and Rolls. I hope in the future perhaps they'll have a printed paper that makes this process a bit easier.
The food: the dinner menu has about 40 items on it, and another 30 or so rolls to choose from, AND 15 or so individual sushi pieces you can try. The selection is HUGE, even if you don't like hand rolls or sushi you can still have a full dinner with the other items.
All sushi and rolls were fresh and tasty, out of what we picked there wasn't one roll I didn't like. However a few rolls like the Super Crunch Roll were absolutely massive, not sure if it was over stuffed or poorly rolled, but they were hard to fit in your mouth they were so big.
We ordered maybe 5 orders of baby octopus they were very tender and delicious.
The Mexican Sunrise roll was unusual yet very tasty.
The drinks: unfortunately at this time they do not have a liquor license so they do not sell alcohol, but they said they'll have a license in the future, so I'm excited to see their alcohol options. Currently your drink options are: water, tea, or soda.
The staff: were all helpful and our waitress was polite and knowledgeable. I think because it's the first week of the restaurant the staff seemed a bit overwhelmed. Two of our items never came (no biggie we could've just reordered if we wanted to) and one item was brought to us by mistake from another table.
I think a simpler system where the staff take our menu and check off each item as it arrives will cut down on the confusion. Or perhaps keeping our order and delivering everything at once, although that would lead to slower service.
The atmosphere: despite the restaurant being almost full when we ate at 6pm, the noise level was fairly low, which made talking easy at our table.
The restaurant has a minimal decor to the point where I sort of wished there were paintings or something covering the white walls, perhaps in time they'll decorate more. Yet the minimal astatic was also nice.
I do wish the large windows that let in a ton of natural light into the restaurant has shades, as the sunset made our dining experience a bit unpleasant and we moved tables shortly after being seated. Not a big deal, just a small improvement.
The place was almost full at 6pm on a Friday, so if you don't want to wait, call ahead and make a reservation. There was a large party waiting for maybe 20 minutes...
Read moreHaya Sushi is incredible. I've frequented this establishment, and will happily give it a 5* rating.
I'll echo other reviews by acknowledging the price points of other sushi restaurants (who charge up to $15-20 for a single 6-piece roll). Haya is quality for each respective dish they serve, and they've been consistent in the 15+ dining experiences I've had there.
Some of my (and my acquaintance group) personal favorites; Shu Mai Coconut Shrimp Crab Rangoon Tuna (sashimi or sushi) Salmon (sashimi or sushi) New Surf & Turf roll Conroe roll Volcano roll
I'll leave a few observations here for context; Haya is relatively new, and their menu has been fluid to this point. They've added and removed rolls (overall, their menu has gained options) over time, and I'll note a few rolls/options that we had enjoyed in the past.
The double dragon roll was fantastic while they offered it. They also used to offer a "tempura ice cream", which is unavailable now. The rest of their dessert options are still great (tempura oreo, ice cream).
We have ordered various beef dishes (beef stick, beef tataki, beef yaki udon), and we've had inconsistent experiences. At times, their beef is fantastic, and at other times, it lacks tenderness. We aren't sure what causes the inconsistency, but we hope it's sorted out!
The lunch and dinner prices are different, and the reasoning is behind the options available for both meals. For dinnertime, you're able to choose nigiri or sashimi (rice and fish, OR fish alone) for any respective option. At lunch, you can only select "nigiri", which is rice and fish. My friends and I love sashimi, and would greatly appreciate if sashimi was offered during lunchtime as well. There are also other menu options available during dinnertime exclusively (takoyaki/octopus balls, certain rolls and appetizers, etc). Be conscientious about the quantity you order; they will charge you for any leftover food!
The staff is always welcoming, and has answered any questions my group proposed. Presentation at Haya is fantastic too (very conscientious-they don't simply throw rolls onto a white plate). We've gotten an entire sushi boat to carry our order before, and they're quite creative with how they present and plate orders.
Overall, Haya has become one of my favorite restaurants I can think of, and I'm happy to see...
Read moreIf you’re looking at reviews considering whether or not to try it, even though they just opened- TRY IT! Yes, they had some opening day kinks, but all in all it was a great experience and I’m excited to try again once they’ve gotten into a groove.
For context here, we were extremely devoted to Ginger Blossom, the previous restaurant at this location, before it closed. This new place is all you can eat sushi, hibachi, robata, apps and dessert.
We aren’t sushi eaters but went for the apps to see if they were like GB. Our favorites were the coconut shrimp, tempura chicken, tempura shrimp, and crab Rangoon. The gyoza were good, but not as good as the previous recipe (which is hard to top). The tempura veggies were a little too big so harder to enjoy. The chicken fried rice was really good and had big chunks of chicken, if you’re into that.
We did order the chicken robata but it didn’t make it onto our table. However since we had plenty of food, we didn’t notice.
I died and went to Heaven with the tempura ice cream. 🤧
It closes at 10 on Saturdays but we were told to order last rounds for the kitchen at 9pm since they wanted to close the kitchen. This was a little disappointing as we got sat down around 8:15 and it took a bit to put everything in. We’ll just come earlier next time.
Our servers were gracious and attentive, even though it’s AYCE they made sure to check on us. It was a great value for everything we got.
Fun fact: the same family that owns all the Joy Bowl franchises owns this place.
Overall we’ll definitely come back, just a...
