Jo's gather'n Place — Restaurant in Springfield

My family and I are in town for a soccer tournament. We always try to support small local businesses. This one was a great fit for our family. It's is definitely a locals spot. They treated as if we they had always known us. Greated us when we walked. The bar tender did a great job she was working alone. There was probably 20 or so people. Drinks were keep full and she was great with my kids. Two girls got tacos salads. My youngest said it was fabulous. My husband and son got the Supreme nachos one beef and one chicken. They both cleaned there plates. I had the kc style triple decor. It was pretty fabulous bacon cooked to perfection not to chewy or burnt. They had booths or tables and a few high tops. The cook did an amazing job getting everyone's food promptly and hot. The atmosphere was relaxing and could actually speak to each other. The cook and bar tender definitely deserve credit . After reading all the great reviews I was pretty excited to try this place out. Unfortunately, that led to major disappointment. The prices are reasonable but the food was absolutely horrible. I ordered the Walleye basket which came with one walleye fillet and a side. The walleye fillet is actually a walleye fillet split down the middle; then cut in half for two small pieces. It was also over cooked and dry . The side "walleye potatoes" was cubed fried potatoes with burnt onions and burnt jalapenos . NO SEASONING OF ANYKIND WHAT SO EVER ON ANYTHING. This could possibly be the worst lunch I have had in Springfield and Ive been to a lot of places . Service was slow and not attentive and the atmosphere was something from the 70s if the 70s was...

This was a great experience. The server was friendly and talked with us. There is a welcoming family vibe. Everyone seems to know everyone. The meals are large portions, and the prices are very affordable. My son got a burger that was the largest I've seen in a while, and the nachos were tasty and very well covered with beef, olives, cheese sauce, jalapeños, and lots of other goodies. Huge potato skins, and the club sandwich was almost more than my wife could eat. This is a great place for good portions of food at a reasonable price; rare for restaurants today....
