This was a pleasant surprise we stumbled across last time we were visiting Springfield. We just happened to spot a sign that they had a buffet and having children with us it seemed like the easiest way to get some food and get back in the road. What we found was not only was there a buffet but it was filled with a great variety of cuisine I wouldn't have expected, tamales and ranch beans for example. The food had a very home cooked feel to it which made having a buffet filled with it even more exciting. Lots of warm tortillas and solid selection of fresh salsas really did make it a great experience. The storefront isn't big and it's easy to miss from the road but I highly recommend Leslie's to anyone that wants a more home cooked authentic experience, something refreshing from a lot of other dime a dozen places. Will definitely be back next time I pass through.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND. This is the best Mexican food I've had in Springfield!! Staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. The food at the restaurant is incredible! I had the pollo sopes, the chicken was so flavorful, tender, and moist. I got a side of guacamole that was the FRESHEST and most delicious I've ever eaten. The spicy salsa has a fantastic level of spice with so much flavor. Hubby got the birria tacos which were unlike any we've ever had before. The consume was thick and flavorful, the tacos were so meaty, cheesy, and perfectly coated in flavor. We got a couple of tamales, they were not the best we've ever had, but still delicious. They were a little dry, but still so flavorful. We have barely finished our meal, but we can't wait to go back again!

Just ran in quickly today,, but will be returning. I haven’t seen this kind of market since I left Texas. All the brands I forgot I was missing were in one place. Fresh tortillas, Jarritos, and more. The store was very clean. The staff was friendly. The food in the back smelled delicious. If I hadn’t just had lunch I would have given it a try. Very excited to have found Leslie’s. Edited to update. We returned on Sunday afternoon and tried the little restaurant in back. They served the best tacos we’ve eaten since leaving Texas 20+ years ago. The tamales were delicious as well. We will be repeat customers.

Update Sunday, 2:30 pm,1/26/25: Music was way, way, too loud. Baked goods were stale and prices have become unreasonably high. Nothing fresh at the bakery, most items were hard dry and stale. Only one cashier for the 12 people in line. Used to be a 5 star store a few years ago. Disappointing. We will make the trip to Gabby's Bakery in Rogers AR, never have been disappointed there. I think that Leslie's has lost their way. Too bad....😞

Update again: Friday, 10/10/2025 The bakery continues to have the worst selection and continues to offer stale, dry and tasteless fare. We walked around and noticed the prices have increased expotentially since our last review in January of this year. Just one example: A regular size roll of plastic wrap is now $10.00 ????. Outrageous!!!.. Seeing all of these hard working customers being taken advantage of is just disgusting and is heart breaking. We've been regular patrons of Leslie's for years, starting with their store on Glenstone and happily watched them succeed and expand. Yes, the cost of groceries have risen, but this is unacceptable. We will never patronize this place ever again. Shameful. Not recommended. Period.

UPDATE: Thursday, 10/16/2025: I found out today that Leslie's Mexican Market DOES NOT make their own pastries as they used to, they buy them from Gaby's Bakery located in Rogers Arkansas. We were shocked because we would drive to Gaby's from Springfield, Mo at least once a month to buy our favorite, fresh, Mexican pastries. I happened to see a Gaby's van on Glenstone travelling north at about 11:30 am. We called Gaby's and found out that Gaby's makes a delivery to Leslie's and The Latino Market in Springfield ( St. Louis Street), every Thursday. Gaby's Bakery is huge and in the last 5-6 years making the trip to Rogers was worth it. You are probably aware that fresh, authenic, Mexican pastries turn stale and dry after 48 hrs. I'd recommend going to Leslie's for pastries on Thursdays, late afternoon or maybe early Friday mornings. Hope this information helps. Who would...

I don't like to leave negative reviews so we came back to give it another chance since the new owners took it over a few months ago. We noticed then they had a new menu and prices had gone up and quality had gone down. We couldn't even read most of the stuff on the menu. Was not a good change from the old menu that was very easy to read and look very nice. We asked the server what would he recommend since we couldn't understand so much bad spelling on the menu and order was confusing. He recommended the David burrito and steak tacos. The tacos were okay but not up to the quality that we had come to expect from this restaurant. The burrito had very little meat. We decided to wait a few months and see if they would clean up their act. We came by over the holidays, and decided to order the same thing just to compare from our last visit. This time, it took you longer to receive our order and our waitress never came back to check on us. The food was just okay and definitely not how it used to be under the old owners. My wife and I are very sad because we had grown to love this place and always looked forward to coming here. We loved how easy the old menu was to understand and the prices were better, so I don't know why they had to fix something that wasn't broken. You have lost two very loyal customers. Again, I don't like to leave negative reviews but maybe the new owner will see this and fix the problem. Have a...

My first time in the store was yesterday and I drove 27 miles just to go to the store. I bought quite a bit of meat and a tortilla press. The tortilla press was $25. I took it home and tried to use it and it broke right away. I thought it was cast-iron, but it wasn’t. I took it back, and was told that I could not return it. What they don’t know I’m a chef by trade and I would’ve spent thousands of dollars in that grocery store over the next year but they decided to screw their customer over for $25 and tell me that I couldn’t return it, even though It was a malfunctioning press that had soft metal. I would not recommend this store to anyone at all, And I will tell everybody I know not to shop at this store so not only when they lose the thousands of dollars that I was prepared to spend over the next year or two at their store, but they will also lose money from everybody. It’s a shame that businesses don’t respect their customers anymore, especially ones that pay their bills and keep their...
