I love Greek food. It doesn't even have to be great Greek food, most any can be appreciated.
New York gyro is the absolute worst I have ever had
I have enjoyed gyros in at least 30 states in the USA & in at least 5 other countries where I have tried one. Atmosphere:They weren't busy. I was one of 2 customers. The place felt a little dingy. That alone would not have been a concern. When I asked for a Gyros (yee-ros) and they corrected me scornfully saying 'you mean you wanna Gyro' (GY-roW) I should have known better... The fries: Were OK. Neither great, nor bad. The pita: Tasted stale & was kind of fall-apart crumbly. Definitely old. The gyros meat: My major complaint was the meat... Inedible and the consistency of ground beef with a sour taste. The sauce: Runny and flavorless, leaving a chalky aftertaste/texture in my mouth.
If I were to rate this restaurant on a 100 point scale compared to other places I have been:
An independent, family run Greek restaurant in Nebraska was the best at 100. A Greek restaurant I visited I. South Chicago was 98. Holy Land Deli in northeast Minneapolis is a 95. Dino's Gyros in St. Paul is a 75. Arby's is a 70.
New York Gyro is a 4. They got 4 points because it was fast, open late and the ok fries. NEVER, EVER, AGAIN. Not even if it was delivered & free.
I threw it away and went...

I orderd a lamb pita wit cucumber olive tomato etc and got chicke pita with peppers, bannana peppers corn, hot sauce and something else that i dont even know what it is. Anyways i called and tried to explain the mix up and get a free one i could pick up another time to make up for not getting what i paid for. The person that answered did not understand a work i said. Just kept repeating ,you want a lamb pita? I asked if he understood what i was talking about. He passed the phone to someone else who o again repeated why i was calling and he said , you want lamb pita? I said not right jow next time i am in that area to replace the one i already paid for and did not get. Then he hung up on me. Worse customer service i have...
Read moreWhat they are serving is not traditional lamb gyro meat. I did not see them cut it or anything like you would normally see in a shop that serves gyros. They dug some mystery meat out of a container. It looked nothing like lamb gyro meat. The sauce was not traditional tzatziki sauce that is served with gyros. Idk what it was but it tasted nothing like it should. It was weird. The pita was weird too! Like what was that?!?! It tasted old and it wasn't warmed up or toasted or anything. Overall the place was not clean. I dont travel to St Cloud often, but it looks like the city does not inspect their restaurants often or their standards are far lower than the Twin Cities. I spent close to $40 and I had to throw the food away. Horrible, over priced food. Dont waste your...
