I would love to see the look on Chris Cosentino's face if he had to sit through either of the two meals I did at Acacia House. Service is very attentive, atmosphere is nice, cocktails are good, but there are some major issues with the food. Appetizers Hamachi Collar: The fish was delicious and well cooked, but it was absolutely covered in whole pink peppercorns to the point where it was difficult to get a bite without at least six of them on my fork. Unfortunately they completely overpowered the dish. Iberico Ham: The ham was the best bite of the night, but what appeared to be pan con tomate on the side was actually pan con tasteless strawberry puree, pitched to us as "jam". I get that they're trying to be creative, but it just didn't work. Entrees Schnitzel: on my first visit, this was the bright spot, but the second time, something was definitely off. There was a strange flavor that wasn't present before. Cinnamon? My dining companions said that the last time they ordered it, it was raw in the middle. All in all, a problematic $70 piece of fried pork. Sea Urchin Cacio e Pepe: I wanted to love this, but the thick fresh spaghetti was undercooked and heavy, and the sauce was gloopy and congealed. Was tempted to ask for a side of pasta water. The Pasta Queen would be so disappointed. Striped Bass with Clams and Chorizo: two words - salt lick.
It's sad, but really no wonder that the restaurant was almost empty during peak tourist season in...
Read moreTotally underrated restaurant in heart of Napa.
Restaurant is open for three meals and have been for all of them (not in one day). It is definitely NOT your typical hotel restaurant. Not much indication they are there, but they are...all day long.
Healthy portions for well thought-out food. Whoever is running the kitchen knows what they are doing. I had the bass with chorizo for dinner and crudo to start.
Suggestions for lunch would include a monstrous Niçoise Salad and won't go wrong with the California burger.
Croissant French toast for breakfast is like having breakfast and dessert simultaneously. Chilaquiles are not to be missed either.
If not eating, if you don't stop in for the best Margarita in Napa Valley, you are doing yourself an injustice.
When the weather is right, assure you request a table on their patio deck...but sitting inside makes you feel right at home with a hygge aura. Restaurant is carved inside a 100 year old farmhouse. Walk through hotel courtyard after too for some selfies.
The star of the show is the service though...its Forbes four-star rated and easy to see why. These guys are over the top accommodating.

Read moreSooo disappointed. We had seen this restaurant profiled on Check Please Bay Area and it looked wonderful, so we put it on our "to visit" list when we were in the area. The amuse bouche pate (sp?) was excellent. We ordered a special yogurt and potato crisps dip for an appetizer. For our mains, we ordered a duck breast dish and the lobster risotto, and the Brussels sprouts as a side. The $21 lebveh dip was the best dish we ordered, though most of the potato crisps were crushed (bottom half). Had to use forks to get the chip crumbles with dip to enjoy it without getting our fingers in the food. The duck breast was flavorful and nicely cooked, though the skin was not crisp. The risotto rice was properly al dente, but the dominant flavor was just salt. The Brussels sprouts were mushy and drowning in salty white sauce -- definitely for people who feel like they should eat vegetables but don't really like them. Food prep very much came across as going through the motions, which might have been because of the holiday. Service was good, very attentive and kind. All said, expected more from this place by a celebrated chef,...
