Nestled conveniently near Tower Grove Park and the Missouri Botanical Garden, Hartford Coffee Company offers a welcome respite for both nature enthusiasts and caffeine seekers. Step inside this neighborhood haven, and you're greeted by the aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans. Their extensive selection caters to all palates, from classic espresso drinks to unique single-origin brews. And for those who want to recreate the experience at home, they offer a selection of whole beans for purchase.
But Hartford Coffee Company isn't just about the beverages. Their food menu is equally impressive, showcasing fresh ingredients and creative offerings. The standout on the menu for me was the steak and cheese bagel. One can imagine fluffy bagel pieces tossed with savory steak, melted cheese, and a touch of sauce – a delicious deconstruction of a classic sandwich.
A word of caution: While the coffee and food are delightful, be aware that the air conditioning vents can be a bit of a double-edged sword. Their positioning might direct a cool blast uncomfortably towards some patrons. If you're sensitive to the cold, it might be wise to choose a seat away from the vents to fully enjoy the ambiance.
Overall, Hartford Coffee Company presents a winning combination. Its proximity to green spaces makes it a perfect post-walk pick-me-up, while the diverse coffee selection and innovative food options ensure there's something to please everyone. Whether you crave a robust cup of joe or a delightful breakfast or lunch bite, this charming cafe is sure to satisfy, with the caveat of potentially chilly seating in...
Read moreThey are rude and evil; the vibe is atrocious and rotten; it is obvious that several staff are contemptuous towards customers, raising questions about their hiring practices.
They require their customers to do physical labor (put own plates and dishes away), and are completely insensitive to people's disabilities, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and medical privacy. If you don't put your plates away, they rudely confront you in other customers.
They don't inform their customers of their labor requirements up front, but only harass them if they don't comply. If you don't put your dishes away, they monitor, surveillance, critique, and discuss you; and come up with a plan to confront you in front of other customers.
The kitchen manager (Logan) was extremely rude and should not be allowed to work there. He refused to write down the owners' names or the store phone number, forcing me to email myself the information; and provided no receipt for my full refund that was promised but not processed. He intentionally was being difficult and disdainful, again, in front of many customers.
Pretty amazing that they want you to clean their restaurant for them, but they can't be inspired to put a pen to paper to write down a phone number. They should essentially be paying customers instead of the employees who refuse to lift a pen.
Why should anyone feel comfortable there?
I have not received call back as requested nor the refund I was promised.
Hartford Coffee should liquidate and dissolve in order to stop mistreating...
Read moreI ordered a latte and biscuits and gravy for dine in and it came in a plastic disposable cup and the biscuits and gravy were in a takeout bag with the gravy in a cardboard cup and the biscuit in foil. I asked for a plate and got a tiny saucer. I eventually went and grabbed a takeout box to eat out of. I looked around and everyone was drinking out of disposable cups, and eating their food right off the wrapper or from takeout boxes. You can't eat biscuits and gravy on a paper bag. When I went to leave, the trashcan was overflowing so I had to set half of my trash on the ground next to it. Of course it was overflowing. All they serve people food and drinks in are disposable containers. It's 2022 and I can't believe a coffee shop is going so out of its way to hand out so many disposable things to their dine in patrons. It's wasteful and makes eating or drinking there a complete hassle. I heard the barista ask a costumer if their order was "for dine in or take out" and I just laughed because what's the difference?
I come here from time to time because I can walk there and while the coffee and food aren't always amazing, they're passable. But every single time I go in it's something or another. The place is always pretty busy so I have to imagine someone's just running this place into the ground. Hope they do and an actually functional coffee shop moves in.
This would be a 1 star review if the biscuits and gravy weren't pretty...
