A pretty typical local bar and grill, however the food was definitely better than your average “bar food.” We went for lunch, so I cannot speak to what it is like for dinner/at night. Waitress’s were very nice and working hard, however it was clear they were short staffed. My wife and I are both very patient and understanding of that situation so it wasn’t a big deal for us.
Cons: very very loud, lots of children with parents letting them run free. I was hit with a kids toy at one point. The restaurant was about half full and we couldn’t hold a conversation it was that loud.
Pros: Staff was very nice and clearly trying their hardest. The food was fantastic and the drinks were good too! We ordered the Lafayette Lemonade, Mojito, loaded chili cheese fries, 2 house salads with ranch, chicken tenders, and the holy aioli burger.
Food ratings: Lafayette lemonade: 7/10, needed more lemon but was still sweet and refreshing. The mojito: 8/10, a little sour for our taste but otherwise well balanced. Chili cheese fries: freaking amazing! 9/10 rating. The fries alone were very good with the right amount of seasoning, slightly crisp outside and soft inside. The dish itself was piled with a ton of melted shredded cheese and fantastic chili and topped with green onions. Would have liked for this to come with sour cream to balance it out some, but still some of the best chili cheese fries I’ve ever had. House salads: 7/10- arugula/spinach mix with Parmesan cheese, tomato, topped with edamame and house made croutons. The ranch, edamame and croutons are what made this salad. Chicken tenders: 10/10, truly the best. Very tender and juicy meat with a unique and well seasoned crunchy coating. We ordered ranch, honey mustard, chipotle bbq and sweet chili sauces. The chipotle bbq was good, but the ranch, honey mustard and sweet chili surpassed all expectations. Holy aioli burger: 8/10. As a burger connoisseur this burger was very very good. It was cooked to medium-well (I didn’t specify how I wanted it cooked) and yet it was still very very juicy and tasted as though it was cooked medium. The white cheddar cheese was melted perfectly and paired delightfully well with the garlic herb aioli and mushrooms. My only real complaint with this burger was that it seemed to be missing something to offset the heavy (but delicious) umami flavor. Would order this burger again and again...
Read moreI visited here the other day with my husband and my uncle, along with his friend. We had to ask for literally everything. I'm not kidding. No one greeted us after we sat for about 6 minutes or so. We had to ask for service, menus, straws, silverware, refills, and the bill. Literally everything. An employee was sitting at the bar eating chicken, and the bartender wouldn't look my direction when I initially approached the bar to ask for a server to visit our table. When I asked, the guy eating chicken said, "My bad," and I laughed and asked him if he was on break. Idk what that was about. Soon after, a server came by and said she was taking another tables order, and that's why she didn't greet us. She definitely had a rude undertine about it. Then she left, and a few minutes later, another server came over and handed us menus after we asked for them. She asked if she could get us anything while none of us had menus. The service was terrible. The food was mediocre. My husband got a smash burger, and he said it was really good, and we all agreed the fries here are delicious. My uncles blackened chicken was lacking flavor. That makes no sense because Cajun blackened seasoning should be very flavorful and spicy. My Philly cheesesteak was a little overcooked, but more importantly, the sandwich was dry, and there was a lot more bread than filling. My uncles friend ordered a cheese quesidilla of all things. She didn't say a word. I'd imagine it's hard to mess up a cheese quesidilla. I've eaten here inside once before a few years ago, I don't remember what I ordered, but I remember thinking it was just ok. Around that same time, my husband and I ordered burgers to go a few times. The 1st couple of times, everything was really good, but then they weren't good anymore. I guess they have good burgers again, according to my husband, but I'd rather go to Stacked or...
Read moreCity Park Grill is a fantastic establishment. First off the food is awesome everything tastes fresh and original. There is a great flare to the food ranging from the Manchego chicken melt to the Sweet Potato skins. Everything has a unique twist on what you mind at other places. The atmosphere in the building is awesome. Pop in on a Tuesday night and you’ll catch a running group finishing off their run with a couple glasses of beer. On the weekends you get a great dinner crowd full of locals and others. The establishment itself has great esthetics with a long custom built hard wood bar stretching the length of the restaurant. The outdoor patio is perfect with lights handing around the outer edge leaving a great warm glow. When the weather permits the garage doors and windows are opened, and you get a great outdoor atmosphere all throughout the restaurant. Lastly the staff is friendly and welcoming. In my first two visit to the establishment I met both of the owners Rob and Blake. They were not only friendly but ready to chat and engage with the customers. Which in many cases is rare to find. The rest of the staff is always friendly and welcoming. They make you feel like part of the family from the second you stop in. I’d be hard pressed to find a member of the staff who would say anything negative about the management or the establishment. And if you have ever worked in the restaurant industry before you know that can be rare to find. All in all, I don’t think I could recommend a better place to try in Tower Grove. Check it out after a run around the park or for a few drinks after Food Truck Friday. Either way City Park Grill is the...
