Stopped here on a whim after leaving a friend's house. Took me(f) and my bf a moment to realize it was a gay bar since we were stoned but decided to stay and have a few drinks because the piano player was amazing, had a killer voice and the song choice was excellent as expected. Ended up leaving without finishing our drinks because we were getting the stink eye from multiple people sitting next to us and in passingwhile also being ignored by the bar tenders. I get it, it's not really for us (even thought were bi, we're in a hetero relationship so i get that we stuck out) but we've gone to many gay bars with friends and over the years in general and never had an issue like this. Read moreI'm now to the neighborhood and searching for new "spots". I don't know anyone here in the McKinley Heights/Soulard junction. I started coming here a couple weeks before I moved to get my bearings and this was the first bar I visited.
Right away. I felt welcome, safe and comfortable. The bartenders are all super friendly, very spacious bar, clean restroom, reasonable priced drinks and GREAT happy hour specials. Great music always playing. Very nice patio (though TOO COLD to enjoy right now for this chilly willy penguin!).
