I've been enjoying Coffeestamp for many years- the consistency of the coffee and food products, as well as the genuinely pleasant service, is unmatched. Despite the many coffee options in South City, I will come out of my way for Coffeestamp. Coffee sourcing is top notch. Baristas are all craftspeople. It's one of the few places in StL where you can get an unsweetened chai, and wow is it good. Cappuccinos are rich and creamy every time (no big bubbly lazy milk steaming). The empanadas are outrageously delicious- every flavor including vegetarian options- and extremely authentic- close your eyes and you might believe you're eating in Honduras. They have some more substantial food items and a bakery case that delights. Their espresso bean chocolate chip cookie and gingersnaps are tops. And the cafe environment feels like a community hub- every time I sit in the cafe I catch at least one hug from an old friend passing through. There's also quieter seating upstairs if you're needing to focus or study or escape. The owners are often there, and you can clearly see the success of this cafe is a top-down flow of great energy, warmth...

Some excellent items and some things I wouldn't repurchase.

The few empanadas I tried were all tasty. Garden curry had a nice spicy kick, plus the veggies were good quality and neither over nor under cooked. Breakfast (bacon/egg/cheese) and brunch (Prosciutto/egg/cheese/potato/peppers) empanadas were flavorfully seasoned, and again the contents were all prepared well. No rubbery eggs or dried out ham here.

PB+J alfajore was decent - PB has a very slightly offputting bitter flavor, but still an overall good cookie.

Molasses ginger cookie is top notch; exemplary. Perfectly chewy, and the dark molasses flavor shines through right alongside a good tingly ginger.

The drinks I tried though were both total strikeouts unfortunately. Horchata is, to my taste, totally ruined by an ashy, burned coffee flavor - the roasted morro seed, I guess? Guess I learned I'm not a fan of morro.

Thai tea was incredibly weak - I appreciate that it wasn't the typical syrupy sweet version, but the tea flavors themselves were just as watered down.

Would return for food, and maybe some...

Coffeestamp is great! It's worth a drive if you don't live in the heart of STL. An incredible addition to the food culture here. It speaks a lot about them that they started up and are succeding in the middle of a pandemic.

The staff was really friendly, courteous, and highly competent at everything.

We visited for a Saturday lunch date and ended up wanting to try everything on the menu. We settled on the Ham & Cheese and Napolitana empanadas, Mayan Tortilla, banana caramel muffin, Dark chocolate latte, and cold brew.

The coffee is really good. The chocolate was rich and the cold brew has really strong notes of cherry.

The empanadas have a flaky, crisp exterior with a little bit of chewy crust underneath. The Mayan Tortilla is two corn tortillas with red beans and quesadilla cheese between them. Served with plenty of fresh avocado and a salsa with a mix of spicy, sweet, smoky notes. I know beans don't normally sound that exciting but these are deliciously earthy paired with the rich, creamy...

This cafe was a pleasant surprise in South City. Nothing could have been done to make our visit more pleasant! It is obvious that the owners give a lot of personal attention do the quality of their food and to service. The beverages that I have tried there have all been delicious, flavorful but not too sweet. The empanadas are absolutely delicious! They are unique because they are baked and not fried, and again they come with many unique fillings. There are chocolates and alfajores available as well as other sweet treats. I also tried the bagel with avocado and strawberry. It was also very good. Some of the drinks offered a really unique, such as pinol and locally produced kombucha, and I love that they roast their own coffee. The owners could not be nicer and we talked with them about how they give back to Honduras, the country where they source their beans from. The cafe is cozy and welcoming, and I wish I only lived closer. We will definitely be returning there.

Seriously amazing food, baked goods, and coffee selection. Baklava, empanadas, sandwiches, handmade chocolates, and the best coffee in STL. You could easily come here for breakfast, lunch, brunch, snacks, whatever. People are all super friendly and wonderful. Pictured below are a strawberry taco, empanada, and one of the three types of baklava they have. All the portions are big! The empanada and baklava each weigh half a pound easily. Prices are fair as well! The large empanadas range in price from 3.25 to 4! Their sandwhcih selection is great too. Bagels to grilled cheese to choirpan! I saw a choripan come out of the kitchen and it looked baller. They roast all of their own beans as well. The light roast I got today was fantastic. I always buy some beans from them when I go to the the Soulard market, and was stoked when they opened this place! they can brew their coffee much better than I can at home. Staple stop for me from now on!

Each time I visited, I ordered a chicken panini sub avocado and always had to pay full price as if I was getting the chicken. Strike one. I also order an overpriced latte. They charge an extra $0.75 for oat milk—even though that’s cheaper than cow milk—and a whole dollar for one pump of vanilla syrup. I always have to go back up to the barista just to get my dollar’s worth. Strike two. Today, I wanted to place a pickup order, but the app charges extra for avocado. I called the female manager on shift this morning (6/15/25), but she wouldn’t help me. She said I had to physically come into the store and wait (which I don’t have time for), or I would have to pay extra on the app. Strike three. I just don’t want chicken. How is it that hard? They’re losing my business, and I spent over $30 a week at least. They lost $40 just today.
