Little BBQ in St. Louis

Took mom and my son and his wife. I member when this was beast craft bbq (bbq was fyahđŸ”„) google is living little Lucy as bbq restaurant, I looked at menu and really didn't see many bbq its at all. They have a brisket sandwich and thats about it. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon and building signage and front look very inviting. parking lot clean, a small space on Manchester for outdoor seating. (didn't actually see a server working the patio though) Just folks sitting and talking. We entered the front and immediately it felt small as last time I was here it was beast craft bbq. if your familiar, Lucy occupies the old meat market and brunch side room. They have a small well stocked bar as you enter that seats about 6 to 8 people. People at bar looked happy and enjoying the drinks. To the left there is a sign stating "please wait to be seated" We waiting a moment our so and a server told us we could sit where ever we could find a seat. The dining room is small, on right is the kitchen and its an open kitchen, food is prepared just 3ft to a max of 15ft from any seat in dining room. They have 4 boths that seat 4 ppl comfortable 6 is a push but a table of guest was pulling it off. they have 4 or 5 high top deuces. I really didn't see anyway a person in a wheel chair could be in dining room without blocking access to bathrooms. We are able to get a both as a table was leaving and we're greeted by Addison. She offered us water and gave us menus. She seemed nervous, there was no ice breaker with her which would lead to a basic convo about the menu. "have you all been in before or is this a first visit?" No real attempt to sell us drinks or food. All that had to be information requested and not offered. No, (we are known for this, I really like this etc..) The menu: Small and i get it, focus on small execution so it can be fast and good quality. Reading the menu it gives modern southern, it did not give bbq as Google stated. catfish poboy with Cole slaw and pickles, brisket sandwich, peel and eat shrimp listed but not on menu. seriously only about 5 things you would call an entree and 3 sides and 2 desserts. The menu is small and has no direction for southern. its everywhere and no where at the same time. we ordered "crispy turkey leg" im guessing it was baked a little and then deep fried and sprinkled with seasoning. it was tough not tender, zero smoke flavor and only flavor was the season salt on outside of leg. tripe sandwhich: tripe was crispy and tender inside. the thick cut toasted brioche was good but over kill when combined with amount of breading on tripe. alotta biting to get to the tripe if that makes sense. no side collard green artichoke dip: it was ok, I just didn't like the saltine crackers given to eat it with. catfish poboy: it was a true catfish filet and not swai. its served Nashville hot but it was very mild and took away from catfish being crispy. comes with slaw and pickles on it. no side Brisket sandwich: the one thing that could be bbq. comes on French roll, they give you a generous portion of the most bland brisket that has never seen the inside of a smoker. no bark at all on it. edible yes, taste good? not really, you expect better with that commercial smoker on side of building. Overall: Clean restaurant, guests were having a ball, drink menu fun, service (more development needed) ok, food sub par at best. I give it 4 out of 10. Would I go back? no sadly. I hope im wrong but I don't see that current business model making it out of its 1st year.

First time here walked in the ambiance seems decent, then you get hit with a sour smell like old dirty mop water and two week old bleach. St. Louis restroom smells of sewer water. I ordered the smoked fried turkey leg which was one of the worst I have ever had extremely dried out, hard as shoe leather And no flavor. The turkey was cooked so long the meat was grey on the inside no longer red. The turkey tasted like it was cooked a week ago and tried to fry today. My co-worker ordered the double cheese burger and chips which was extremely salty and was not worth the money. You get a small bowl of red hot ripplet chips which everything is over priced. Additionaly they dont tell you that they charge you an additional 18% gratuity which we still do not understand for the 2 of us. This seems like false practice they might as well just include it in the high price as it is. you dont find this out until you get you bill. Needless to say I won't patronize the establishment but everyone has there own flavor this is not for us. Don't waist you time please. We went at around 1:00PM also. The turkey leg was 16 dollars before the 18% gratuity and thats all you get. A few weeks ago i was at Grants Farm and got a Turkey leg that was so good and tender and was half this overpriced option.

Honest Review, I stopped in for a late lunch. The restaurant was clean, the wait staff was friendly, and it wasn’t busy at all. The menu leans into a New Orleans vibe, which sounded promising. I enjoy a good plate of chicken wings and have had great ones at other St. Louis spots, but unfortunately, this wasn’t one of them.

Visually, the wings looked decent. But bitting into them reminded me of that scene in National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation when Chevy Chase slices into the turkey and it deflates. That’s exactly how these wings felt: crispy skin, but barely any meat inside. The honey hot glaze was fine, but nothing memorable. What really threw me off was the taste, it seemed refried, old, and carried that unmistakable freezer burn flavor, where you can taste the freezer in the meat. The meat had no seasoning, just a vague mix of honey and cayenne. Where is prep? I stopped after one bite.

I can’t speak to the rest of the menu, but $16 for that plate was a miss.

Also worth noting: the tip is automatically added to the receipt. I usually tip well, but being forced into it without an option felt off. I would’ve tipped more if given the choice. Apologize to your waiters and waitress for taking their tips.

I like leaving good reviews when they’re earned. This one just didn’t hit the mark. Food needs...
