I visited this place as most of the local coffee shops on Google maps were closed. I drove at least 8 miles out of the way to come here as I was running on fumes and didn't want convenience store coffee. The trip was well worth the drive as both the hot coffee and affogato were outstanding. There was only one person working and she was very cordial and worked very quickly to get my order completed. The store in itself is very unique with and has a very welcoming and relaxing ambience to it. The decor was very imaginative and a tip of my hat to the architect, designer and craftspeople involved in this project. There is even a bank vault for customers to sit in. Half the store is pretty much seating with the coffee station and the other half is for roasting with a nice layout for the bags of beans and outdoor coffee cart/station with smaller bags for retail sales. The aesthetics of this place are simply fantastic. My only regret was the lack of time to spend on The Hill (my first time here) while enjoying my coffee and I will hopefully have another chance to visit St. Louis and return to this coffee shop and explore more of the surrounding area. My friend told me about Shaw's Coffee half a year ago. As a regional coffee connoisseur, I added it to my STL coffee list and popped in one random day.

The building itself is stunning, the high ceilings and gorgeous tin ceiling make it feel cozy even on the rainiest of days. There are a handful of tables inside and outside of Shaw's and can be hard to score on the weekend. I suggest asking a lone person at a 4 top if they wouldn't mind sharing as the customers are overall friendly.

My favorite days at Shaw's are when Shane roasts the coffee beans 🫘 right in front of you. The whole store smells like coffee heaven and makes me want to purr like a contented cat. I wish they would do talks about roasting, the process and machine etc. But maybe that is just me being a nerd.

The bariastas are so patient, friendly and kind! When the seasonal drinks change they are always helpful to recommend what they like (which I enjoy !). Order a coffee flight! Try all the delicious seasonal varieties and then try them again a few weeks later when the newest flavors change over.
