UPDATE BELOW We tried to order breakfast this morning and declined after a RIDICULOUS charge. We were ordering 4 items & requested all items be 'well done' or 'extra crispy'. They wanted to charge us $1 more PER ITEM just 'to cook it longer'.
My mother told me she stopped going after eating in, asked if she wanted store bought or pure maple syrup with no warning of the excess cost, to discover it was $4 more for a tiny cup. My aunt could not order just an egg without the home fries, even if she paid for the entire expense and still just got an egg. They brought her the egg and home fries, thus wasting food.
Are YOU paying attention to your receipts?
Diners are a dime-a-dozen in these parts. We got what we wanted elsewhere ... without the upcharge.
REPLY: One side of my family are/have been cooks or waitstaff. I also worked as a server for years. Our request was not 'special' and regardless, its part of the job & your decision is utterly absurd. What next, charging people for every question they ask because it slows things down? And the reason for my aunts situation? Doesn't matter anyway. As for my mother, it was awhile ago. She was telling me her last interaction with your diner when I was alerting...
Read moreI love percys table, they are always so friendly, polite and always gonout of their way to do what ever they can to make your experience good. I have been there so many times since I work right next door. (Bonus).. My daughters graduation was last Saturday. Due to the state of emergency right now there's not many places open right now. I had run in to Bridget the manager of Percys table 2 days prior to graduatuon and I explained we were looking for some where to go after her ceremony to have lunch and she told us to come down and even if we run late they would wait for us as they close at 2. The experience was the best. Everyone loved the food. They also were so polite and friendly to all 8 of us and made sure we had everything we needed. The ladies said congrats to my daughter several times while we were there. After I left I then realized they gave my daughter her meal for free as a graduation gift. Also wrote on the receipt congrats class of 2020. Thank you for making my daughters day even more special. We will be...
Read moreWe were traveling from the VT/NH boarder over to Portland for an appointment. We left early and I said we’d get something to eat on the way over. Saw Percy’s sign while filling up my gas tank and we were hungry. Walked in and first thing I noticed no food smell and the place was pristine. We sat down and were immediately waited on. While waited for our coffee we went over the menu. My daughter knew what she wanted but I was on the fence. I love homemade hash but it has to be cooked just right. I asked the waitress and she highly recommended it. When it came out that was the first thing I tasted because if I didn’t like it that was going to set the tone of the entire meal. It was absolutely delicious. I stopped eating it and the waitress asked me if I liked it. I told her yes but that I wanted to take it home so that I could eat it for dinner that night. It was out of this world. My family has decided to take another trip out that way just to have this meal again. Thank you Percy’s for a...
