Umble Coffe Co - HQ in Starkville, Mississippi is the newest coffee shop in the area as of 2023-2024. It is located a few roads off the main strip in town and has a small, yet spacious parking lot. The building is made in the "shouse" style (house/shop) and has an open-concept floor plan. There are about 9 inside tables to use and only a few outlets. The facility seems to attract a more upscale clientele as most have been people doing business or sorority girls. The coffee is high quality and very tasteful. My acquaintance had a smoothie and loved it, but said that the bagel, labeled New York style, was not actually New York Style (they are from NE USA). I would recommend this coffee shop to those out for a shopping day or wanting a quick treat, but I am unsure I would recommend the facility for studying, which is what most people are doing in a college town. The temperature, despite being in many layers, was extremely cold with constant air flow, the staff were loudly creating TikToks behind the bar for ~ 30 minutes (loud, repeated sound bits while they laughed and moved around), and the chairs were uncomfortable for more than 1 hour of seating. The coffee was also slightly more expensive than competitors in town. Overall, I really like the "vibe" this establishment brings to Starkville as it is different to the competition (StrangeBrew, The Coffee Depo, 929 Coffee House, Starbucks, etc), but would not recommend it for the studying student like myself. Don’t overlook this spot…Wow! I was debating whether to go here because it was in a different direction then my route that day but I am glad I decided to stop at this coffee shop just before leaving town for a work trip. I came across it on Yelp and visited the website to research the story behind the shop which is very interesting. From the first taste of the cup of coffee you can tell the owner really cares about quality coffee. I enjoyed a pour over cup of "The Breakaway" (no cream nor sugar so I could taste the full flavor) and the flavor notes were JUST as described. Also as advertised on the website the coffee does not leave you with that "crash" feeling later. I will definitely be coming back and also purchasing bags of beans in the future. It was a wonderful coffee drinking experience and one I was not expecting in this little college town. Hands down one of my top favorites. Also had a sausage, egg, and cheese on a bagel. Visited this place recently and found it to be quite organized with a very friendly staff, which made the experience welcoming. The bakery selection is decent, though there’s room for improvement. However, my flat white was a letdown – it seemed the milk was steamed too much to the point of being burnt, which unfortunately affected the overall taste of the coffee negatively.
