So, I have eaten here once before and thought nothing of it. Seemed fairly typical for your Asian/American fare around this area. I went back today and made the comment to my SO that I am always surprised to see so many cars in the parking lot when I have driven by here.
Today, we went inside instead of taking carry out. The restaurant is clean! This was the first thing I noticed. Ordering was easy and the cashier seemed pleasant. I ordered the Double Dragon Poke bowl and my SO ordered what she always orders at Asian restaurants. Chicken with rice, no veggies. Astounds me how we actually find places to eat together...but We have thrived for years. Anywho-- The meal came out and was neat and tidy. I really liked the style Katana's is portraying. Everything seems organized and clean.
First thing first----The rice---It was great! I am fairly snooty when it comes to rice and know the different textures and nuttiness of varying rice. The sushi rice they used was perfect for this meal. The tastes that mingled within the bowl was balanced. I was very skeptical about a "Deconstructed sushi" meal and made that statement out loud to my SO. In actuality, it may have enhanced it. I really enjoyed seeing and eating the ingredients this way. I asked the lady who brought our food to the table for more wasabi, and she gave me two extra containers. This made me happy. I guess she could see it in my eyes that I was a professional wasabi taster. This wasabi was the final reason why I am giving a full 5 stars. The wasabi was fresh! I know we really can't find real wasabi in America, but I at least knew that this wasabi was freshly made. My nose tingled and my sinuses stood at attention waiting for the next command.
All in all, the meal was quick, clean and delicious. I will go again and mix it up. I would love to have the option to get sushi rolls though but eating the bowls still appeases my appetite...
Read moreKatana is consistently outstanding! I've been frequenting here since they first opened and I can't imagine going anywhere else for fresh & flavorful Asian cuisine. Statesville is truly lucky to have Katana. The staff is so wonderful and beyond helpful! Katana is always kept clean and the food is seriously worth twice what they charge. I have so much love for this place! Every time a friend or family member visits or has something to celebrate, we go to Katana. Every time we eat somewhere else, we wish we were at Katana lol! Can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The wontons are so perfect we call them "mandatory wontons." There's a sushi bowl suitable for any pallet, also available in petite sizes to save money or to try more than one. The noodle bowls & rice bowls are also available in smaller portions, but the regular size is large and great for leftover lunch the next day. Hibachi is always a great choice, but the katana style (asian bbq) is simply out of this world! Shrimp kabob is a very worth it upgrade on the bowls as oppose than regular shrimp, you'll be glad you did it! Katana style shrimp kabob noodle bowl is my go-to. Don't sleep on the kimchi fries or the tuna nachos either! There's also special menu items throughout the week, you seriously can't order wrong! I have so much love for Katana. The owner is so pleasant and you can tell truly puts love...

CHICKEN!!!!
Alrighty enough silliness but for real this place has an option with no spices on your popcorn chicken. So they call it naked. Haha.
Inside is surprisingly bright with it's dark red tones and black walls. There is a neat painting on the wall of a girl. I don't know if there is any significants of the girl but it was a great painting.
The line moves quick and food comes out fast. Mine was ordered online and was as warm as it came out of the oven. I went in the bathroom to see it was clean. My only concern was a fairly sized gap in the first stall looking right at the sink. If someone leans a bit forward can see inside the stall. So uh might want to fix that. On my way out of the bathroom I noticed a kick door open thing (see attached pictures). Plus they have elbow handles for the doors.
Everything food wise was good. Before we left I returned my silverware and asked if I can order a hot tea to go which was delicious and a good size for 2$. The staff were friendly with my many questions.
I hope to return again and get the same thing. Any questions just ask and I'll do my best to answer. OH THEY HAVE A...
