Stopped in while passing through Statesville and was initially drawn in by the charming atmosphere and promise of classic Southern BBQ. The décor was warm and inviting, and the sweet tea was absolutely on point—perfectly sweet and refreshing. Unfortunately, that’s where most of the positives ended for me. I ordered a BLT, expecting something hearty and flavorful, but it was incredibly mediocre—nothing special, nothing memorable. For a BBQ joint, I was hoping for something that really stood out, but this just wasn’t it. Beyond the food, I noticed a few things that really need improvement. First, the bathroom situation: only an air dryer, which we all know harbors bacteria, and no sanitary way to exit the restroom without touching the door handle. In today’s world, that’s a simple but important fix—paper towels and a trash can by the door would go a long way. The biggest concern, however, is the smoker actively being used on the curb outside the entrance. While it adds to the ambiance, it’s also a major safety hazard. I nearly brushed against it just getting out of the car, and I can only imagine how easy it would be for a child to get burned. Honestly, I thought it was just a decorative piece at first since there were others outside, but then I realized it was fully in use. This is an accident (and a lawsuit) waiting to happen—please, for the sake of safety, find a better, more protected setup. Overall, it’s a mixed bag. Great atmosphere and sweet tea, but the food was nothing to write home about, the bathroom setup needs work, and the smoker placement is a serious issue. I’d love to see some improvements because there’s definitely potential here, but for now, I can’t say I’d go out of my way to stop again.

Great food, great customer service and priced great too! The folks at Randy's BBQ are absolutely fantastic. The food is delicious and the portions are plentiful. The atmosphere is very small town southern charm and if you're a Nascar fan, you'll be in heaven looking at their collection literally surrounding you. It's no surprise to me that the place stays packed, and you may have to wait a lil bit on a table sometimes, but it's well worth it. They are cash only but there's an ATM right there inside. The last time we went, there was a wait but they had a guy (owner maybe?) going around passing out freshly fried pork rinds mmmmmmm, mmmmmmmm, mmm oooohhheeee! You can't beat that. Their BBQ is phenomenal all by itself, but they also have a couple home made sauces that kick things up a notch. You couple that with some of their fried pickles, sweet corn nuggets, hushpuppies or anything else on the menu and you'll be happier than a tick on a coon hound! If you're out around the Lake Norman, Mooresville area you need to put Randy's on your things to do list. I don't work there, but we live 5 minutes away and genuinely love the place. Always delicious and a really great family restaurant.

Randy’s Bar B Que is positively adorable both inside and out, with decor and furnishings that are warm, welcoming, and homey. And they make a fine lunch as well. I had the bbq plate, and here is what I found: BBQ: tender, juicy, and very good flavor, but not much smoke. Eastern style with a vinegar base. Hush puppies: golf ball size with a delightful outer crispy crunch and a soft, flavorful interior White slaw: mild but delicious, finely chopped, perfect consistency, not too wet or dry Crinkle fries: way above average; perfectly done and delicious. Somehow, some way, not all crinkle fries are created equal. Baked beans: different; a bit too tangy for my taste, but still good—I prefer mine smoky sweet Sweet tea: VERY sweet, one of the sweetest I’ve had—this stuff could be used to test for gestational diabetes. Chili: they sell a small cup of their chili for 80 cents, so why not? It would perform very well on a hot dog. Staff: just friendly enough, but not impressively so Price: about typical for NC BBQ Parking: not that great—you may have to walk a little. One of the better bbq joints I’ve visited. Worth a stop if you are near Troutman.

Randy's BBQ plates are Excellent, and so are the 'Enough Burger' plates. I don't understand the negative reviews here ... some people you just can't please. I've never eaten at Randy's, take-out or dine-in, and gotten food that was anything less than Super-Tasty. Nice portion sizes, extra-friendly staff, reasonable prices.

UPDATE ... It's not letting me add a new review, so I'll add to this one. I recently called in a pick-up window order for an Enough Burger plate, a BLT, fries, and a large drink. She said to give 'em about 15 minutes, so I did. When I got there, there was one car at the pick-up window ... more than 10 minutes later, I was still waiting behind that same car. It looked like somebody got away with pulling up to the window, placing an order, and just sitting there blocking the line 'til their food was ready. It's just common sense that everyone behind that car gets cold food, and that's what happened to me. Someone shoulda made that woman pull up out of the way since she didn't have enough sense to do it herself. When I did finally did get to the window, I gave the girl $22, and got back fifteen cents ... I thought that was pretty steep, but since the food is always super-good, and the line was finally unblocked, I let it slide. Then when I got home (1 mile away), I found out the food was cold ... And, there wasn't even enough lettuce on the BLT to fill a teaspoon. I didn't go into 'lettuce withdrawal', but all of these things began to add up to a fairly aggravating visit to Randy's. There's always lettuce in my fridge, so i can deal with oversights like that ... but letting one dunce at the pick-up window cause several people's supper to be cold, especially when it's leaning more and more toward the pricey side, is a perfect way to lose customers, And cause a disturbance in the driveway. Saying that it was irritating is a WAAYY nicer way of putting it than what I'm actually thinking. Randy's is still a good place to get excellent food, but sluggish-minded customers who think the pick-up window is for placing orders should be told the difference when they first pull up ... And be told...
