Went to The Quarter last night 2/24. There seems to be confusion with seating. It is first come/ first serve and that caused a bit of confusion. Some people (like me) waited to tables to be cleaned while others jumped ahead and sat at dirty tables. This made several people angry and leave. Now on to food, we ordered two apps; cornbread and Gumbo. The Gumbo was tasty but they used kielbasa style sausage. The cornbread had whole kernels and was on the sweet side, small portion for $10. For our meal we ordered Blackened Snapper with white rice and the Muffaletta with seasoned fries (I wanted to sub red beans and rice but the server was unsure if she could do it, so I just went with it) Both were good. The sandwich is served on a large baguette-be prepared to take half home or get one to share. To finish off the evening we had the chocolate cake, bloody thing was huge! Our server was kind, well dressed and friendly. She was in the weeds—deep. Total time from entering to leaving was over two hours. We had about a 20 minute wait. Our apps and food were presented at the same time, not by our choice. Our server was running around in and out of the kitchen, going behind the bar for drinks and busing tables. She was working way too hard when the bartender was casually working. The food runner came out a few times but did not assist with busing, and we never saw them again. Our poor server was left doing it all. Bringing out food, getting drinks & cleaning. All this caused us to remain seated and waiting, waiting to order, waiting on drinks, waiting on food and our check. Several times we were forgotten but again our server was doing it all, not her fault. I would believe these problems are just growing pains of a new business but from what I have heard the owners are seasoned restaurant owners. I will chalk this up to bad ownership or training. Seven tables-2 six tops, 5 four tops and seating at the bar. It looks like they will have a few tables outside when the weather warms up. Two apps, two meals, dessert and 5 beers-$99 and change. Will I return? Most likely. Hopefully they change how the staff works, or the second time will be my last. (Forgot to take pictures...
Read moreI gave this place this review rating based on not the food or service but the sear desire of trying twice in the same night to to even look in door, it is a very small Limited seating and parking but charming place very busy with excitement and the smell of food floating out the door taunts your nostrils and tastebuds, we have decided that this adventure has just begun and we are not giving up, with the limited space and seating they would do good to do all reservations with one or two only walk in seats available, it would help make things more enjoyable for everyone and less chaotic. My opinion of course! We’ll keep trying stay posted on this one
Update: Finally got in !🤗 We sat at the bar the restaurant is rather small and there’s tables really for four or more people rather than a table for two, the waitress was nice and professional, I noticed steam coming out of a machine, I have not noticed other bars doing this they were sanitizing the drink wear What a positive! I normally only see them cleaning them in a sink dipping them in the rinse sink them hanging them up, We ordered a appetizer Fried okra it was cooked to perfection! My m a in course was the Steak Frites Verdant but I ordered collard greens with mine instead of fries, the King ( my bow) ordered the Blackened Red Snapper he has talked of eating this in Costa Rica roasted on the open flame with vegetables ( the whole fish with eyes) ! Thankfully this was a fillet ! He wished it was like Cost Rica (before my time) but he enjoyed it a lot all the same, Overall this place was worth the extended wait to...
Read moreBeing that I was born and raised in New Orleans, I /we (group of 4 of us) were extremely excited about trying this restaurant. Probably the worst food I’ve ever had at any restaurant. It took 20 minutes for us to meet our server, another 20 to get our drinks, and the drinks were made incorrectly.
I asked the server if the chef or anyone was from Nola or cooked there. They told me neither was true. This explains why nothing on the menu was even remotely authentic. Here is what we ordered:
We tried the appetizer crab cakes and Okra. The Okra was quite good, as it should be-it’s fried Okra.
The crab cakes were seasoned well, but highly underwhelming.
We also had the Eroufee Pasta. I took one bite and something tasted rancid immediately. The pasta had a brown, watery substance flowing through. Etoufee should NEVER have that texture.
The blackened snapper was next failure. The fish was raw on the inside. It was placed on a bed of plain, white rice, zero seasoning on the rice. The sauce the top was palatable, but seemed like a forgotten attribute of the dish, which was quickly thrown together by the “chef.”
The server was the best part of the entire experience. She was fun, sweet, understanding, and truly cared about our experience. There are only 6 tables inside the restaurant, including a community table. That said, it took us three hours to get all our drinks and food throughout the night. What a shattering disappointment....
