Mi Rancho — Restaurant in Staunton

Here's the deal... The food is absolutely incredible and the patio seating is downright delightful. The problem however lies in the fact that they do not give you an itemized receipt and seem to have a tendency to overcharge you for things you didn't get. I guess they bank on you not caring to double check after your belly is full with delicious Mexican food and/or margaritas.

My friend told me he stopped eating here after he noticed habitual overcharging when he would take his team here and I decided to see for myself last night. I had two entrees, two dips (guac and cheese) and two lemon waters. According to the listed menu price it should have been $44.44 after applying the 4% hot food tax and 7% sales tax. The total was $53 after the appropriate taxes instead. Do the math... That's 20% more than we should have paid according to the menu price.

Unless they changed the menu prices and didn't tell anyone or update their menus, something fishy is going on there. Watch your total and make sure to ask for an itemized receipt if it doesn't seem right.

To the management team: IF YOU ARE AWARE OF THIS, I SUGGEST YOU STOP. Dishonest business practices are totally unnecessary when your food is this good. Please just raise the prices of your food to accurately reflect the final total so I don't have to feel like I'm being robbed.

The atmosphere was very nice! The fish is really good a bit salty but the best in the menu in my opinion. My experience overall was a 2star , if you’re not used to great food you may scale then otherwise. I order a t bone stake medium well and my dad order carne asada …. When I received my steak it was bloody ! Which really turned me off from wanting to eat a steak. When the manager asked what was wrong I told her I wanted to trade my steak for fish because it was bloody. She was not apologetic she didn’t seem to care about my displeasure her first sentence was “ well we cook it how you ask for it and you have to pay for the meal still “ I was honestly upset because here I was about to create content for their restaurant for people to visit but she was so rude. My parents just pushed it under the table but that was ridiculous to pay for a bloody steak ! And not even get an apology. Our original server was really good and his hospitality was again… it wasn’t until she stepped in his way while taking our orders and embarrassing him and changed some of the items. I blame management.

Once seated our drink orders were taken quickly and drinks brought out. Our orders were taken no problem. However, after that the waitress only returned to the table once to refill my friend drink and once to ask if we wanted water refills. None of us had ordered water, two of us had ordered Sierra Mist, which we said. The waitress never returned with our refills. Once we finished eating it took forever to get our checks brought to us. The waitress even sat people down across from us but did not bring us out checks. Once flagged down, we were able to get out checks. When we went up front to pay we had to waiting for someone to come check us out and actually had to go find someone. In addition, I think it is absurd to charge and extra $1 per taco just because I requested soft tacos instead of hard-shell tacos. I just don't see the reasoning behind that.
