Dodge Park Coney Island — Restaurant in Sterling Heights

UPDATE: 7-8-23 Too late for dinner so we met the kids. Food is pretty consistently good and they have great variety. We just like eating here a lot.

We have gotten take out from here several times. This morning we decided to dine in for breakfast. That was a great idea. I have never been inside, because I have never picked up our take out, so I was expecting the standard coney island 'look. " That's not a bad thing, just an expectation. I was wrong. The inside was fresh, clean, modern and appealing. It was bigger than I expected also. The menu was extensive with several specials. There were many pancake choices, and even french toast choices. The omelette section is huge. We both had omelettes with well done hash browns. I had a corned beef and swiss, and my wife broccoli and mozzarella well done. The omelettes were awesome and the hash browns perfect. It was too much to eat, so some went with us "to go." Here's a cool trick they used. We noticed a small piece of broccoli on top of one and a small piece of corned beef on the other. That's what they do so they know which omelette is which and that's super cool. Our coffee cups were never empty, and the waitress was awesome in how she worked "alone" got everyone seen to, orders out, coffee filled etc.! Always with a smile. She also did the cash out. You should try this place. Dinners are good and now breakfast too, and the prices are in line with or slightly lower than similar restaurants. Support a well deserving local business.

Back again (actually many times since my last review.) Still great still travels well (it's still good when you get it home.) The chicken strip dinner is becoming my favorite. Enough food for a chicken sandwich for lunch the next day (if you save the dinner roll and one chicken strip.)

12-3-22 Back again and again...Now I meet some friends of mine up here regularly. It's pretty consistent which means there are no surprises and the food is very good. I wasn't afraid to suggest this as a meeting spot. Had the corned beef omelette with well done HB. Made exactly how I asked...

Stopped in after visiting the business next door. Walked in and was greeted right away and told I can sit anywhere I liked. Waitress took my refreshment order and when she came back I ordered a bowl the beef barley soup, which is one of my favorite soups. Soup was piping hot you could tell it was homemade in part basede on the cut of the vegetables. Was very good, but I added some pepper I then ordered the super melt, which is a patty melt with added bacon lettuce and tomato, I opted for no tomato. In between my order arriving at the table, the waitress was constantly switching out by soda, nice touch The sandwich came to the table and I had added french fries to the order. They appear to be a seasoned or crispy style fry, seasoned right and hot. Sandwich was good size, rye bread grilled to perfection. Was very tasty One of the better Patty melts I've ever had. The lettuce made the sandwich a little hard to handle as it was sliding on the bread. No big deal though, I just pulled some of the excess lettuce off and ate that as a little side salad...lol. Bacon was nice and crispy. One of the best stops at a restaurant I've had in quite some time. I was very delighted with the food and the experiene. Highly recommend. There are 2 doors, an outer and an inner. When you open the outer door and step inside my first reaction was wow this is nice, it's not what you would expect in a strip mall. when you leave the vestibule and enter the restaurant the wow continues. It looks like this Coney island should have white table clothes and linen napkins, it is very impressive and like no other Coney I have ever been to. The food was good as was the coffee and the prices were almost pre covid. Our omelet's were loaded with the items we ordered, you definitely get your moneys worth. My only complaint is the toast, It was cold, not warm but cold and there was no love buttering it, some kind of yellow liquid was drizzled on it haphazardly. would that keep me from going back.....no, I guess you can't have...
