McCarthy’s Harp and Habit — Restaurant in Steubenville

So I think I have posted 3 negative reviews on restaurants in the 41.8 years that this earth has revolved around the sun. Here’s my evening…

Im a big fan of dive restaurants and bars and am visiting from Chicago so I thought I would give it a try—cute patio and view.

I come in for dinner around 6 and I stand at the hostess desk for 5 minutes waiting to be seated—it’s a Wednesday evening—I give up because nobody comes us and decide I’ll just sit at the bar…it’s not busy. Sit down and there’s 4 girls and just me—sitting there for another 5 minutes while the bartender flirts with the girls and finally comes to me (I get it, you’re young…priorities…)

Order burger and fries to keep it simple—but I’m more amazed by the 22 souls that have amassed at the receptionist stand waiting to be seated—and it must be 6 different groups of people.. Nobody came up to them for 15 minutes and i count 4 waitresses and a bartender—and the place is half full.

I actually ask the bartender if all those people are waiting for a table after 15 minutes—he says, “yeah, I think so. It gets busy for wing night…”. Yet, doesn’t go up to them nor tells someone else too. I thought perhaps they have all been waiting there for some other odd reason that I couldn’t figure out. It was just crazy the disregard but everyone was aware.

Burger not so good. Fries were decent. Customer service not great.

Our booth was extremely uncomfortable. Our waitress Grace was sweet but I feel as though she may be new and still could use some training. We ordered side salads and appetizers that were brought out with the dinners instead of before and with our party of 7, half our table got their food while the other half had to wait. We also didn’t get one of the appetizers because they said they were out of the spicy ranch. Instead of coming out and telling us this and asking if we wanted regular ranch they just didn’t even bring them out. We chose to just take off the order, why bring out after you brought the dinners out. Appetizers come first. No fries with burgers. That’s extra. I would be embarrassed to serve the small burger alone on a tray. Water pitchers should be brought out to refill water and not take our glasses away for refill. New glasses would be more appropriate.

Overall not a very good experience and feel management needs to take a good look at the service and presentation/order of service. Nobody helped our sweet waitress carry out 7 dinners. Maybe have a little team work. This place could be a really great place to eat but the service and food just...

Last night 5/10 around 6pm my husband and son went for dinner and I had them bring me home a steak salad with the fries boiled egg first of a ll the salad was soggy and I definitely know it was from someone else’s plate bc there was dressing on it very little salad it no fries no egg two tomato for the price the size of it was like the size of a salad that someone gets before there meal! The pieces of steak which were bite size and there was only 6 pieces was all fat I have had them before at the restaurant and they were very good. But I’m sorry I will no longer ever get them again. My husband got fish dinner my son got fish and they brought me home a steak salad because my dog is dying and don’t want to leave her alone . If it wasn’t for my dog I would have brought it back up to you and dump it on your bar because that’s just what it looks like in box! Someone scraped a plate in a box the bill came to 85.00 definitely will never order again my husband and son dined in and they ordered me a steak salad...
