Stockbridge Diner — Restaurant in Stockbridge Township

On a Friday morning and elderly lady and I met at the door,before we could enter the open sign was switched off and the owner/cook met us at the door and informed us that his waitress went home and was closing fore the day...number one..nobody was in the diner ..number two...he was unwilling to serve us without her and nobody was there and nobody else was coming...number three his demeanor was rude and condescending...he's always been snotty when I go there and I was contemplating not returning...the mature lady had walked there from several blocks away. ..they way he treated her was infuriating...not many places to have sit down breakfast in the one horse town...this man is of highly compromise integrity and should be avoided...he made me sick to my stomach...I wouldn't treat a sewer rat like treated that elderly...

Woman on phone was incredibly rude, like my patronage was annoying her. I just called to place a to go order and she was rude and huffing into the phone snapping "ok anything else?". I ordered 1 breakfast and a side of extra crispy hash browns. This is my 2nd attempt at trying them for breakfast. Last time i tried the biscuits and gravy and found it inedible, didnt complain, said ill try again... This time i was served hardly cooked potato slivers.... especially after asking for them to be crispy, they were hardly cooked, basically boiled potato shreds? Also, the owner of the resturant comments back to other revieweres, shows how nasty and mean their service is..... I tried to support you, but you seem to not want customers? I had to take my "food" home and finish cooking...

This place is clean and has good food. They have the best chicken fried steak around. I have been there twice so far and I am pleased with the food and service. I am not from around here, but love to try the chicken fried steaks every chance I get, this place makes a good one. Update 9/30/2023: Went to get a chicken fried steak and ordered a biscuit with my meal, The woman taking my order almost had a tantrum melt down and squawked "That will be an upcharge"! I should have left the restaurant and told her to keep the biscuit, however I was hungry. If I worked in an industry where the customers are my source of income, I would NOT act like that.
