Been here four times since it became the "new" Backstreet. Each time the food was average at best. Some of the issues were; undercooked soggy fries, brown soggy lettuce in a salad, way too much dressing on a turkey rueben, fish just so so (bland coating). On our last visit this past Thurday, my wife had very good looking thinly sliced roast beef that you couldn't cut with a steak knife, much less chew. When the waitress was informed she just ignored us. The waitstaff is not friendly or attentive in my opinion.
EDITanswer to below comment from owner
The reason there was so much beef missing from my wife's plate was because I put a large piece of it on my plate and tried to cut/eat some of it. I was able to eat one fairly large bite but it was terribly chewy. If you had weighed the remains from both plates I assure you that you would have found that very little was consumed which I believe was the point you were trying to make. We did not ask for nor recieve a credit or refund so how much consumed is a moot point anyway. It was terrible and I feel my review is accurate. As I stated this was our fourth visit so I feel we have given your establishment pleny of opportunity to impress us, which you have not. Thanks for trying to have a good restaurant in our town, but as for my wife and I we find others more to our liking.
The remodel of the building is nice but they seem to have focused more on having lots of "yuppie" beers and not serving good food. Need impovement...

The good: Service was friendly and attentive. I was biking and she thought to ask me if I wanted extra water as I was leaving. But even beyond that, very friendly and helpful. Reuben was outstanding. Meat was thick and good. Overall just well done. There were some parts that were too thick (something I've never encountered before) and I found those parts too hard to eat. But even so, I really liked it. It ain't Zingermans, but it was well above average IMO.
The bad: About half the fries were overcooked. Way overcooked. The claim was that the oil needed changing and the owner wouldn't let them change it due to cost. I've cooked fries a lot back in the day and I don't buy that--some of the fries had just been overcooked (others were fine, though yeah, the oil needed changing). The 12oz beer (cider in my case) didn't seem likely to be 12oz. It was quite reasonably priced, so I don't feel I got ripped off too much, but still annoying. Maybe it really is 12oz, but i'd guess 10. The cider was good.
The other: Food was a bit slower than I'd have expected given how empty the place was when I was there. But nothing crazy. I'd appreciate a bike rack. Prices seemed reasonable. A bit higher than I had expected for some things, lower for others (beer in particular) but other than the issues with the fries and the 12oz drink, I was happy with...
Read moreAfter the response from the owner I am adding this information: We chose to order carry out because we were at an event in town. My husband waited for our food to finish, and then came directly to the high school. There was MAYBE 5 minutes time between him getting the food and us eating it. I appreciate the offer to make it right, but why would we return when only one out of 5 products was good? Original Review: We ordered carry out as our first order from here. We were not impressed & won't return. The fries were thick & chewy, not pleasant. My husband's chicken looked disgusting, and tasted so bad he took one bite and didn't eat anymore. We ordered a kids meal for my son, which they forgot his applesauce with-so his meal was just a hamburger. I ordered the pulled pork, it was decent, but the description says "piled high" and it wasn't. I had more bread than middle stuff. I am giving 2 stars because my pork did taste good! But other than that this was not a...
