I recently celebrated my brother's birthday at The Italian Oven in Eagle Landing. Upon entering the restaurant, I was impressed by its cleanliness and the friendly demeanor of the waitstaff. The service initially was excellent, with attentive waiters promptly providing everything we needed. Our food arrived quickly, and we were satisfied with the overall level of service.
However, our experience took a turn when my father requested another cup of water. Unfortunately, the water served was visibly dirty, with green debris and what appeared to be food residue floating in it. The water had an unusual tint and even seemed to contain some sort of oil or crystals. Concerned about the quality and safety of the water, my father called the waiter over to address the issue. The waiter swiftly took the cup away before my father could take a picture or show it to the manager.
After some time, the manager eventually came to our table. However, he claimed that he had not been shown the water and could not see any issue with it. Despite our clear observation that the waiter had disposed of the water without showing it to anyone, the manager only offered a discount as compensation. He provided us with the owner's contact information but stated that he could not do anything further. Understandably, my father was still upset, leading him to withhold a tip for the waiter.
Upon realizing this, the waiter's demeanor noticeably changed, and she returned my father's change with a slam on the table. Under her breath, she muttered, "I don't need your tip anyway." Adding to the frustration, my mother's card was declined twice due to previous issues, and the waiter slammed the card back on the table, loudly exclaiming, "YOUR CARD DECLINED TWICE." This disrespectful behavior angered my sister, who attempted to address the situation. However, the waiter responded with an eye roll and walked away.
What made this situation even more disappointing was that at the beginning of our interaction with the waiter, my sister had actually praised her for her attentiveness and patience. She had commended her for her ability to handle our requests and for being accommodating with my younger brother, who is still learning to navigate menus and place orders. My sister had even expressed her intention to leave a generous tip of $200, highlighting the waiter's agility and efficiency. It is disheartening that the waiter's behavior deteriorated to such an extent, especially considering the initial positive impression she had made.
In hindsight, this entire incident could have been avoided if the waiter had shown the cup to the manager before disposing of it. The main problem wasn’t that she poured out the water and then lied about showing it to her manager. The fact is that she poured out the water before we could get pictures for documentation and show the manager also before we could even. Tested because my father had drunk out of the glass multiple times, and it makes no sense for your water to look like that unless there is something contaminating it. honestly, we don’t know if all that nasty stuff was frozen in the ice, and as it melted it release itself in the water, or if it was the cup itself to make matters worse even why I am typing this I have a sore throat and I didn’t get no water. But on a high note the food was OK the calamari didn’t have any taste to it. They’re Dipping oil, for the bread really didn’t have no taste they’re hot wings Pretty good and I got the baby with white wine sauce. It was also pretty good the clams kind of tasted funny, so I didn’t really eat much of them. If you go to this restaurant in Eagles Landing pacifically, if you’re Waiter is a African-American Woman with a Blonde messed up lace and Purple rhinestones Around her eyes, you need to get to Steppin or demand another waitress.
As an African-American woman myself, I would just love to say how great of a job she did and for service, but I cannot deny the ignorance. She showed the disgusting attitude she showed the embarrassment is...
Read moreBestfriend and I ended up in Stockbridge and we were hungry. Thanks to Yelp, I stumbled upon The Italian Oven Restaurant and we decided to pull in. The location was super easy to find as it sits right off of the main road in a plaza. There is ample parking and the parking area is well lit.
Walking in, the atmosphere is vibrant, charming, and Italian crafted. The ladies at the hostess stand were super pleasant and provided a very warm and inviting welcome. As it was just us two, we were able to be seated immediately. As we walked to our table the hostess checked in with us and asked about our day. You could tell it was genuine and wasn’t just being done as a part of the job. Her pleasant tone and warm demeanor added its own layer of personality to the restaurant.
Once seated we were greeted by our waitress, Lexi within one minute. Lexi was amazing from the beginning and matched the vibrant environment. Pleasant toned with sparkling inflections, Lexi on top of service the entire night. As she could tell this was my first time, she reviewed the menu with me as I could take a moment to decide.
I placed my order for a Sweet Tea and took some time to take in the menu. The menu provides a variety of options that range from salads to lasagna. The variety ensured there is something for everyone. As I was finishing up my review, Lexi arrived with my sweet tea order and the complimentary bread. Listen, this bread is different. The softness is perfect to soak up the oil and seasoning that is provided. Furthermore, the garlic topic is spot on and balances well with the oil and seasoning. Whoever made this bread truly understood the assignment.
Taking Lexi’s recommendation, I ordered the Tuscan Chicken. This dish is described as Breaded chicken breast stuffed with onions, mushrooms, peppers, & cheese. Served over fettuccine pasta tossed in a blend of roasted red peppers & tomato cream sauce. Oh yes. I needed this in my life.
As we waited for our food we continued to enjoy the ambiance. The music, decor, and general vibe are great for any occasion. We were able to engage in conversation and not have to yell over the music or feel crowded.
When my food arrived I was blown away by the aroma. I’m talking pure FRESHNESS. The sauce, noodles, chicken, and peppers all carried their natural aroma, yet you could still smell the seasoning as well. As I cut open the chicken breast the surprise inside added to the aroma and visual appeal as well. This dish is definitely one that captivates you before you even take your first bite.
Taking my first bite, I ensured to have noodles, chicken, peppers, and sauce all on my fork. The flavor profile that hit my tongue was ahhhhhhhhmazing. The seasonings are subtle as to allow the natural juices to be present. However, it is seasoned enough that the natural flavor is enhanced and the Italian herbs and seasonings get their mouth pleasing time as well. Truly a 10/10.
Engaged in conversation over the amazing food, Lexi checked on us at perfect intervals. When it was time for us to pack up, she provided us with our trays and gave some further recommendations for our next visit as I told her we would be back. Though I had no room for dessert, the options did catch my eye.
Whether catching up with a friend, on a date, or having family time, The Italian Oven Restaurant is one to be added to your must try list. For me, it has moved from my must try list to my favorites list.
Service. Food. And overall Experience. Thank you to The Italian Oven...
Read moreI had an extremely disappointing experience at this restaurant. My husband and I ordered over the phone, using the menu attached to the restaurant’s Google listing. Samantha answering the phone was immediately rude and dismissive, acting confused about a simple pasta order. Once we arrived, we asked about the price difference, and instead of a simple explanation, we were met with attitude and condescension.
Apparently, every menu except the one on their specific website is outdated, but instead of politely informing us, the staff made it seem like it was our fault for not knowing. Samantha specifically said we had to type in ‘theitalianoven.com’ to see the correct prices, as if customers should automatically know this. This is the first restaurant we’ve been to that didn’t have an updated menu and failed to inform customers ahead of time. Rather than handling the situation professionally, Samantha was rude, dismissive, and openly talking about us to another employee while customers were still in the restaurant.
When I called the manager, she was defensive and dismissive, more focused on protecting her employee than acknowledging the poor customer service. She claimed we were cutting her off, yet she talked for minutes straight without allowing input. She also made a point to say, “The customer is not always right,” which—while true in extreme cases—is an unprofessional response to a customer who was addressing an issue. It took my husband stepping in for her to even acknowledge the situation. She also refused to implement a simple policy where staff quickly inform customers to check their specific website when ordering over the phone.
This entire situation could have been avoided if they had simply told us the total over the phone. Instead, we were caught off guard and then treated poorly for asking about it. The issue was never about the money—it was about the principle of the situation. You can have a simple problem, but when there’s an attitude from the staff and excuses from the manager, it makes it feel much worse. When the manager followed up with “the customer is not always right,” it became clear that they weren’t interested in addressing the problem at all.
The manager offered to mail us a 20% discount, which is fine, but why would we want to eat somewhere that treated us so poorly in the first place? We chose to take our business elsewhere, and based on this experience, we won’t be returning. I provided pictures of recent reviews hidden by other reviews regarding the service and food prices. Seems like my husband and I aren’t the only ones noticing the hidden higher prices and the...
