Stockton Food Store — Restaurant in Stockton

Ok, first of all their subs are really, really good: good bread, sharp provolone (on my Italian sub), fresh red onions, lettuce and tomatoes. They're big, too.

Second, the family that owns this store (and the one in Sergeantsville) are really sweet -- dad, mom, teenage daughter. They're the nicest people. There's a Spanish woman who cooks often who is also wonderful, and she doesn't mind if I try my sad Spanish on her.

Thirdly, when I first moved into the area, I went into the store on a weekend to pick up some convenience store necessities: snacks, soda, dish soap. I checked out, and it was a little pricier than I had expected, but I didn't think much of it because it's a corner store, and the family has to make their money.

Fast forward a week later...Again, I went in the store, and the owner told me he'd been waiting for me. He had charged me for another person's purchases, and he had the money he owed me and a receipt of explanation in an envelope. I'll never forget that he was so honest. Stockton Food Store is one of those places that feels like it’s been there forever, and it probably has. The layout is cluttered and a little chaotic, but in a way that makes it more authentic—this isn’t some polished market, it’s a hub for the locals who’ve been coming here daily for years.The breakfast sandwiches are easily the highlight. They’re fresh, straightforward, and exactly what you want in the morning when you need something hearty without fuss. The deli is serviceable—not a gourmet stop, but it’ll get the job done when you need a sandwich or some cold cuts.There’s always a lingering aroma of deep-fried foods, which kind of sets the tone for the store—comfort foods, not health foods. Still, it has that small-town reliability: if you need a staple you ran out of, they’ve got it. It’s not fancy, but it’s local, dependable, and manages to never leave you feeling like you’ve made...

I HAVE PATRONIZED THIS STORE FOR OVER 12 YEARS, SOMETIMES TWICE A DAY 6 DAYS PER WEEK FOR BREAKFAST SANDWICHES , PLATTERS AND CRUMB CAKES FOR MY EMPLOYEES AND A COFFEE FOR MYSELF WHILE I WAIT. THEIR REUBEN SANDWICH IS AMAZING. SINGH AND HIS STAFF ARE ALWAYS FRIENDLY AND THE FOOD IS ALWAYS DELICIOUS. BEING LOCATED IN A VERY BUSY TOURIST AREA, THEY DESERVE TEN STARS FOR THEIR ABILITY TO ACCOMODATE EVERYONE AS WELL AS THEY DO. THE FOOD BUSINESS IS A VERY TOUGH BUSINESS TO PLEASE ALL, AND I WELCOME ANYONE PRIOR TO LEAVING A BAD REVIEW TO SPEAK TO SINGH THE OWNER AND IF YOU FEEL SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH YOUR ORDER HE WILL MAKE IT RIGHT FOR YOU ALONG WITH PLENTY OF APOLOGIES.
