I only get kingfish from here and over time my experience with a regular member of their staff is very off and on unnecessary attitude... If you ask questions about anything her pleasant smile turns into a hard impatient feeling frown as she says "Huh"... I asked to SEE another piece because under all the onions & peppers covering them it looked like it MIGHT be bigger than the 1she chose for me... Of course she frowned and just grabbed the other fish and switched it without TAKING HER TIME TO LET ME SEE IT 1st SO IM SURE IT REALLY WAS A BETTER PIECE FOR MY MONEY... She then rush asks is that all... She knew the piece was actually even !smaller! and !less fresh looking! but she quick gave it to me anyways without letting me see it... She intimidates with her frown at you attitude on purpose which is why i decided to just wait til after i checkout and then step to the side and truly get a better look at the fish. Then i simply asked her to just put the other1 on there since CLEARLY EVEN SHE COULD SEE IT WASN'T A BETTER PIECE. She attitude again responded telling me the rule after you pay is no exchange... Even though i had only walked to dining table stood there and opened my food to get a good look..... She tripped like i had taken it out and came bk in.... Anyways if you eat at this place and happen to deal with the 1lady that has the nice-MEAN attitude i described just ignore her aggravated with you attitude and MAKE SURE YOU ARE HAPPY WITH WHAT SHE QUICK THROWS ON YOUR PLATE. MAKE HER RAISE IT UP TO YOUR EYES BETTER &LET YOU SEE IT BEFORE YOU MOVE ON TO CHECKOUT, because she doesnt much care what the piece looks like that she gives you... They really shouldn't cover the pieces with veggies on th the buffet.... They should separate the vegies to the side or in a separate pan so 1st come 1st serve gets the next best piece of kingfish remaining instead of intimidating customers to not ask to see if they choosing the 1 that you are most happy payying for. The kingfish price went up but the pieces are often smaller nowadays and no mater how mu h you spend she charges extra if you pay with card vs cash... The location in riverdale never does that and they charge less per fish and no attitudesand the lady is mindful to give you tge best pieces remaining....If i lived close to that one i would just go there than deal with huh-frowns to anything i ASK ABOUT.... I usually just smile and let it go but next time before i pay i will be sure she lets me see what i point to before throwing it on my plate with a bully-me frown... Because she dont care, you have to make her do her best to give you what you feel good about. Ignore her impatient tone and frowns at you so you get a good look before...
Read moreToday I drove out my way since I was on that side of town to get dinner... Walked in was served immediately but then I noticed some friction behind the counter with the cashier and the lady that served me I paid it no mine. As the first lady made my plate the cashier came over and threw it out and said here is your jerk chicken. I said I don't want the chicken I want the wings that was made at first with an attitude she tossed the chicken and remade the jerk wing. So there was already friction over my food But I'm watching the energy. T lady was very robotic with a slight attitude.... The original server served my macaroni and cheese And as she was about to put the curry chicken the cashier stopped her again, she don't want her to share it I asked why is my food just sitting there why couldn't she share the chicken she said because she doesn't know how to share the chicken she's going to dig in the bottom and she don't want her to dig in the bottom of the chicken she want to take it from the top, Mark me no one is in the restaurant but I am to wait until she the cashier is able to share my food not the original lady What!? To my food is just sitting there. When she rang me up she was very hasty however I interjected to ask for a pineapple ginger drink with her attitude she went and grabbed the drink. This is just totally unacceptable. I paid for everything and then asked for a side of jerk sauce to go with the side of jerk wings that I had bought SHE TOLD ME NO I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE CONTAINER, I SAID MAAM I JUST BOUGHT JERK WINGS CAN I HAVE A SIDE OF JERK SAUCE TO GO WITH THE WINGS YOU GOING TO HAVE TO PAY FOR THE CONTAINER FOR THE JERK SAUCE OR GIVE ME BACK TO JERK wings AND LET ME POUR IT ON IT, REALLY? I SAID MOM I DON'T WANT THE JERK SAUCE ALL OVER IT I WANT TO BE ABLE TO DIP MY CHICKEN IN THE SAUCE AS I CHOOSE TO . CAR RESPONSE WAS YOU SEE THOSE CONTAINERS THEY COST EXCUSE I JUST BOUGHT JERK WINGS AND I'M ASKING FOR A SIDE OF JERK SAUCE AND WITH AN ATTITUDE IF SHE CAN'T POUR IT ON IT I CAN'T HAVE IT UNLESS I PAY FOR THE SIDE ... WHAT'S RIDICULOUSNESS IS THIS AND I JUST BOUGHT YOUR CHICKEN... REASONS LIKE THIS IS WHY SOME PEOPLE DON'T GET TOO FAR IN LIFE.. I asked for a manager because of this ridiculous attitude That needs to be tailored in the interest of fireside... She responded I wouldn't...
Read moreYou ever come across a restaurant that you have to space out your visits when you go because you know the cashiers are so rude and consdescending to Black American women that you want the delicious food but minus the abuse?
That’s Fireside Jamaican on Bouldercrest. Both women in the front, but in particular, the taller one who could be a full-figured model, have bad attitudes. When asked what type of rice I wanted, I mistakenly said “dirty rice,” because rice and beans looks and is made somewhat similarly to Creole dirty rice. I love both. She snatched her head back in response and said, “What? You mean rice and beans?”
And I said, “I’m sorry, yes.”
She rolled her eyes at an imaginary person next to her in response, so disrespectfully, like I wasn’t even there. In spite of her rude behavior, I felt bad for insulting the food her home and resolved to apologize and simply explain that where I’m from, we call a dish that looks like this, dirty rice. As she rang me up, I said, “Just wanted to offer an apology if I offended you by calling Jamaican rice and beans dirty rice; where I’m from, we eat something similar and that’s what we call it.”
She replied, “I don’t care about what you say. I’m not worried about you.”
To which I said, “Oh. Ooook...well, that’s great for you, but I’m just letting you know that it was not my intention to offend.”
She clearly seemed bristled. At any rate, another woman came in and was raving about another Jamaican place that’s supposed to be better on Campbellton. Gonna see if they come with the attitude dialed way down, because that woman’s energy is just cutting and she seems completely annoyed with customers.
Gonna miss you,...
