Been wanting to come to restaurant since it is only 5 mins away from where I was staying, so when the opportunity came to try this place, I said yes immediately!
First things first: They have a huge parking lot so there was no trouble with that (for me, this is a deciding factor in where I want to eat for dinner because who wants to spend 15+ mins trying to find parking?) Hostess was very friendly Restaurant is bigger than I thought and was really beautiful inside
We were a party of 7 and we were seated at a table by the fireplace, which was super cozy. For a Sunday night, it was quite busy.
Appetizers: Baked Duxbury oysters: Not sure what I was expecting, but the oysters were tiny but good - I just wish there was more Steamed local mussels: I don't eat mussels, but my party seemed to really enjoy this! Portions were huge Ricotta stuffed meatballs: Highly recommend ordering this - the meatball was seasoned perfectly and was not dry at all. I would come back for this Tuna tartare: This was on sweeter side, so if you enjoy that, this is for you. Personally I didn't like this and they gave us wonton crisps as chips, which didn't pair well with the tuna tartare, especially since it was on the sweeter side. Shoestring fries: These were good, but nothing special! Coconut shrimp: Perfectly crispy with a good balance of the coconut and shrimp flavor Crispy brussel sprouts: There were bacon and apple with this brussel sprouts, but I didn't really taste the bacon. I wish the flavors were more distinct. I probably wouldn't order this again
Entrees: Bucatini: I was looking forward to this entree the most, but it had too much lemon flavor and from what a recall, it was on the sweeter side. This was not what I was expecting, especially since it was made with garlic butter and onions. I am wondering if the wine was not reduced enough? Filet + lump crab cake: I thought the steak was just okay and not cooked as well as I thought. The crab cake was dry. Seared sea scallops: This was my favorite dish of the night - the scallops were seared perfectly and the texture was amazing. I would come back here for it again :)
We also ordered lamb chops and the New York sirloin, but I don't remember what my thoughts were on these.
Overall, it was a good meal, but nothing special or spectacular! I wouldn't mind coming back here for the dishes that I enjoyed and other appetizers. They have a huge list of appetizers and was hard for me to narrow it down, which is not...
Read moreFor several years I have been looking for my restaurant in Massachusetts and finally found it. When it comes to restaurants, I am very spoiled because my family is in the restaurant business in Europe and I always have high expectations for a restaurant. Here I was pleasantly surprised. Everything was very good. The owners and managers did a great job. Good vision and mission, great concept. Everything is very well thought out - from the front desk to the parking. Good Italian menu. Drinks match food. Wonderful music. Very good food and utensils. this is the first restaurant in America where all the dishes are glass and china, and the tablecloths are clean. Usually you are served either drinks in a plastic cup, or plastic knives and forks, or forks and knives that are crooked and were brought by the first settlers from England. Everything here is great - everything is new, stylish and of good quality. The atmosphere is great - cozy and you don't want to leave. Great terrace. Great for a romantic date, family holiday and business meeting. I had a business dinner. I would especially like to note the staff - incredibly polite, competent, they know the menu, understand the drinks perfectly, they look chic - a good restaurant uniform. We ate tuna and avocado tartare, baked oysters, and mussels. We drank Californian Rosse. I spent an eye 70 dollars, which is very reasonable for such a service. There is a large selection of steaks and pasta. Many thanks to the managers and waiters for a wonderful evening. I will definitely visit...
Read moreWe chose Amelias for our Anniversary meal, and unfortunately, the experience didn't live up to what we expected. Here were some things to highlight that threw us off:
We ordered a steak with a side of "Shoe String" fries, which we were expecting to be fries in the form of shoe strings (like we've had at other restaurants). Unfortunately the Shoe String fries here are like pita chips (picture attached). Just a heads up for others...
The Margherita Pizza was a huge disappointment. WAY too many tomatos, lacking sauce/basil, and the bread was too crispy (like chips). There's other good food here from what I know, but once again, just a heads up for others...
Lastly, after spending quite some change and getting ready to use a Visa Gift Card that was giving to us as a gift, we were informed that for some reason "their machine is unable to take gift cards or cards that swipe" (our jaws dropped). We ended up paying with our credit card (with a chip), and the night out that was supposed to be a "treat to us" became a "treat on us". Once again, just another heads up for others...
Note to management:
I suggest you have your servers inform patrons at the beggining of meals on what forms of payments (or cards) are acceptable to use. And when it comes to the menu, I'd add the warning on Shoe String fries (or any other meal that may be "unique") so that folks don't mislead themselves on what to expect.
Our server (Martha I believe) was nice, and the overall service from the team was fairly decent, so no complaints...
