Recently opened La Stalla was one on our list to visit over the last few weeks. This place had been getting some real buzz on Facebook so it was only a matter of time that we would finally make our way to this restuarant. Up until now, our experiences with other Italian restaurants in Boston area, were at best subpar. Perhaps it was the dishes we selected at those restaurants-who knows-but at best the were simply not memorable. My expectation for La Stalla was another restaurant, with same hype, same loud online voices promoting another italian restaurant like the many before it. However -this was not one of those restaurants. Its hard to find the words because this was an experience i dont think i am ever going to forget. Tonight, we had one of the best tasting italian experiences i have ever had next to being in italy. Where does one start when you finally find such an authentic italian restaurant that completely blows all other italian experiences out of the water? Nicola and his team have found magic in La Stalla and if i could give this restaurant 100 stars- i probably would.
I am reliving the fresh fried calamari, the Araninci and the toast with truffle ricotta. The grilled octopus is OUT OF THIS WORLD.
As our main dish we throughly ejoyed the Caborara and Stinco. You can tell quality and conscience selection of every ingredient from the table bread to the appetizers to the entrees. At one point my stomach said to stop but my heart told me another one more bite. The desserts were perhaps the best ive ever had at a restaurant. I dont like Panna Cotta but i gave it a try -where have you been all my life?? I fell in love and finished it off. We made reservations for another night before leaving tonight. From our very first meeting, Michaela was simply amazing. She immediately put me at ease with her warm, kind demeanor, and her creativity and flexibility were exactly what I needed. I had a few specific ideas, and she not only accommodated all of them but elevated them in ways I hadnāt imagined. One of my biggest requests was to create an inclusive seating arrangement for our 40 guests. I wasnāt sure how that would look or work in the space. Michaela assured me it could be doneāand she delivered beautifully. The setup made everyone feel connected and comfortable. The dessert display was truly over the topāin the best way. Michaela went above and beyond, adding touches like beautifully arranged fresh fruit that made the presentation stunning. It was those thoughtful, unexpected details that really made the evening feel special. The food was plentiful and absolutely delicious. Every guest raved about it, including my brother, whoās notoriously hard to pleaseāhe even went back for seconds! That alone speaks volumes. We opted to sit at the bar and were served delicious hazelnut espresso martinis and their special cocktail: a pistachio martini. Both were equally good. Way better than going into Boston and paying $20+ for a cocktail that feels watered down! You get a good value for a far better product.
On to the food! For starters, we had the meatballs and arancini; both were excellent. The meatballs were tender, flavorful and delicious. The arancini had a great flavor profile with the aioli on top providing a great contrast to the savory arancini.
For entrees I had the Cajun shrimp and chicken with homemade mezza rigatoni. The sauce had a great kick and plenty of flavor and was served with three jumbo shrimp, and plenty of chicken. My friend had the blackened salmon which was also flavorful and delicious.
Lastly, La Stalla Osteria did not lack in the dessert department; their cannolis with a house made ricotta fill was by far the best cannoli I have ever had. The ricotta has a much lighter texture than what youād get at Mikeās or Modern pastry but the flavor was ten times as better!
