Toffee Social Bar and Lounge — Restaurant in Stoughton

I’ve been to this place many times before and always left good tips, but tonight was by far the worst experience I’ve ever had. I forgot my ID one time, and instead of handling it respectfully, they refused to serve me. I understand the Massachusetts laws for drinking without proof of ID, I’m 22 and have shown my ID to three different waitresses (2 out of 3 were present) prior to coming that one day. I started going there as soon as i turned 21 because it was my boyfriend’s favorite place to go with friends. For my 22nd i got all dolled up and headed over with a small group of friends and it simply went terrible. I took a sip of my boyfriend’s drink, and they went as far as to take his drink away, even though I’ve shown my ID here plenty of times in the past without issue.

One of the staff members (a white girl, thin hair) was extremely unprofessional—she started an argument with me, gave me attitude all night, and ultimately banned us. She was staring me down the entire time, which made the experience even more uncomfortable. She sat directly next to our table all night Literally watching over my friends and I. The food was just okay and still took 25 minutes to come out, and we only ordered two items. On top of that, the music was terrible, they didn’t match the vibes with the music whatsoever.

The only positive thing I can say is that the atmosphere itself was calm, but the service completely ruined it. Customers deserve to be treated with respect, and this was the opposite. Without the black girl with dreads, this place would honestly be nothing. I will never be coming back after the way my friends and I were treated tonight. It was not needed to ban us i was already so disappointed with the service and how they treated us, i was never going to return. I drove past this lounge a couple of times and was very intrigued. Someone that I know recommended this place, so my fiancé and I decided to go here for a date night. Once we learned that it was black owned, we were very excited to visit. Upon arrival, we seated ourselves which wasn’t a problem, however, the owner walked past us and made eye contact with us numerous times, and never greeted us once nor asked to take our food order. We saw her greet what appeared to be her friends in the establishment, but not once were we greeted. About 15-20 minutes of us sitting at our table, the bartender eventually came over and asked us for order our drink order. We received our drinks, and in total we spent about 1 hour there, and the owner still never greeted us nor asked for us to place our food order. However, we saw her greeting others who she seemed to be acquainted with and took their orders. We ended up leaving and going to Avocados for dinner. We wish that our experience wasn’t like this because we love spending our money at black establishments, especially because we need more of them...

Outstanding! From the moment you walk into Toffee Social you will be impressed! The Establishment itself is beautiful. It's quaint, beautifully decorated and the actual bar itself is gorgeous. We were greeted by Jenn who was our server and bartender extraordinaire. She was so welcoming and kind. Our drinks were delicious, they had some mocktail options on the menu as well which was great. The food was outstanding. They had a wonderful appetizer selection, flatbreads and other smaller pasta dishes. I brought my husband and two of our best friends are and we were all blown away by the service, the food, the drinks and most importantly to us that feeling of comfort just being there. It is such a relaxing and warm environment. This is the type of establishment that Stoughton needs. If you're looking to go get a drink or an appetizer after work or you if you have a kid who takes a dance class locally and you need to kill time for a half hour or so swing by.
