Burns Construction showed up on my doorstep at 7am on the morning of June 9, 2022. One young man at the door, 4 or 5 standing in the yard. A small army of hard hats and bright yellow construction vests, accompanied by a driveway full of serious looking equipment. They were there to install a gas line for Southern Connecticut Gas.
Based on what I was told by SCG, I was expecting 1-2 guys to show-up to drill a few pilot holes to locate the sewer and water lines in advance of the full-blown dig. But SCG also promised that the gas line would be installed by June 10th. I was struggling to figure out how that was all going to happen given the magnitude of the job (the gas main in the street is about 400 feet down the driveway to my house).
After a short level-setting conversation on my front porch, the Burns crew got to work.
This team was like a well-oiled machine. Everyone knew their job and wasted no time getting it done. They worked hard and long. By the end of Day 1 (which was about 11 hours long for them) the new gas line was about halfway done – from the house to mid-way down the driveway. And by done, I mean the trench was filled, compacted, topsoil was raked and leveled across the lawn, asphalt was poured and tamped down, and the whole driveway was power brushed. I was impressed to say the least.
Day 2 started sharply at 7:15am. It was a repeat performance of team excellence, effectiveness, and efficiency. By 6pm on Friday, June 10 the entire project was completed. I now had a working natural gas line connected to the main.
I can’t say enough about the guys that performed this job. But I can say thank you to:
Ryan Karker, Team Foreman Dave Fasulo, Crew Lead Kenny Pereira, Laborer Antonio Daeira, Laborer Miguel Berreira, Truck Driver Joe, the operator of the “hole-digging, water-jet, dirt vacuum monster machine”
Mr. Kenneth A Burns – you should be proud of these employees. They represent you well and more than earn every dollar you pay them! And by the way, I enjoyed talking with each of them. They were polite, friendly, respectful, knowledgeable,...
Read moreWe are having Aquarion install new lines here in Newtown. I’ve got a driveway I am paving and thankfully I stopped after the prep work. They would have torn up what my contractor had done. I have to say if we have to deal with all of this, Burns is the right choice. Every gentleman I have come into contact with has been wonderful and cheerful. The crews really put your mind at ease and are so kind and respectful. So far I have complete confidence they will leave no stone unturned to ensure all of us are put back together and neatened back up after all the digging is done. I had one gentleman, Jimmy, he is a supervisor from what I understand and he was wonderful and caring about my plight with having to stop my improvements to accommodate their job on the frontage. Nice job gentlemen. I am very impressed with all of you! It is my turn next week to get dug up and I am nervous but I have to believe they understand me when I say I do all of the work on the property myself and it means so much to me that they treat it...
Read moreI am dreading the “Mansplaining” when they install out Gas Lines. I can’t get anything in writing before they can do “whatever they want” to my property.
It’s been a couple of years since they didn’t come when they said they would to see if I needed a new furnace or water heater. Especially worrying since I’ve never said I needed them replaced.
A guy rang the RING doorbell on a different day than he said he would. Then he opened the door, walked past the doorbell with his ID badge clipped to his pants (dead center).
Said he was from the Gas Company on the phone (he wasn’t) and doesn’t understand why WE ARE NOT NORMALIZING OPENING THE DOOR AND LETTING STRANGERS INSIDE OUR HOUSE.
Oh wait, he wasn’t already inside treading dirt on the carpet.
They TOLD ME when they’re coming to update the Gas Lines. Again, nothing in writing at all…
What was the plan if we’d planned a vacation? I guess the ride home invasion savvy man would just...
