We ate here tonight and had a very positive experience. The restaurant appears to be a "hole in the wall" eatery, but it is much larger and nicer inside than it appears outside. The place was empty when we arrived at about 7:30 PM. Tony, the owner, was very friendly and made us feel comfortable. The horchata was some of the best I've ever had - and I am picky about horchata. The cinnamon and spices were perfect and it was on the sweet side as I like it. The complementary chips and salsa were great. The chips were light and tasted fresh. The salsa, both hot and mild, was very tasty and everyone commented on how good it tasted. The hot salsa is pretty hot - the kind that burns your tongue for a while - but also very flavorful. We had chimichangas, fish tacos, and enchiladas. Everyone enjoyed their entres. My enchiladas were the best I have had in years. Everyone was sharing food, it was all really good, but I think the enchiladas were the best thing we ordered. The sides were refried beans and rice - not outstanding, but no complaints at all.
Tony Is a great host and cook. We all agreed that this will very probably be our new favorite Mexican restaurant. I highly...
Read moreAnyone that rates this "authentic" Mexican food place as anything other than 1 star has obviously never had any other Mexican food in their life. We went on a Saturday night around 7:00 and were the only people in the restaurant. Should've taken that as a sign. We ordered the queso appetizer to start. It wasn't queso, it was the same canned cheese you would get on your nachos at a high school football game. Not fresh or authentic. To be fair, the waitress took it off our bill when we she asked if something was wrong with it and we told her that it wasn't queso and we didn't want it. We ordered the Tequila Sampler and the only thing edible was the cheese quesadilla. They didn't even give us the guacamole that the menu says comes with it. The menus and salt & pepper shakers were filthy and the waitress spent more time drinking and talking with her friends than anything else. We couldn't even get her attention to get more napkins or a refill. I live half the year in Mexico, was born and raised in West Texas, and have eaten Mexican food all over the U.S. and Mexico. Hands down, this is the worst...
Read moreMy hopes were high for this place, but I was left disappointed and overcharged... which is an instant deal breaker.
The chips and salsa were sooo good. And my chimichangas was tasty as well. Our server/cook (?) Was pleasant and fun to talk too.
But the inside was so lackluster, sad, and just old. Those booths seriously need replacing. They have to be 25years old. No joke. They are faded, stained, and broken. The whole inside looks like a 90s Greek family style restaurant. How does this relate to Mexican food? It's not a fun environment to dine in.
If you are going to advertise ladies night on Tuesdays, then why are you charging me full price for both of the margaritas I had? Please honor your specials especially when the ad is sitting right there on the table. Acted like they didn't know what I was talking about when I questioned it, even while referencing the ad.
Won't be...
