Sellers Beware! After being referred to Ray Zirkle at Time & Again Records in Sturtevant, WI in Feb of 2019, my wife and I drove up there (84 miles each way) with some LP’s for him to sell for us ‘on consignment’. He told me I’d have to ‘trust him’, and I agreed that I would. We agreed on a 50-50 split (more than fair, since they were our LPs, and I drove to him a total of 5 separate times (3 in WI, 2 in IL). He assured me everything would be tagged with ‘my code number’, so when one sold, he’d add it to his spreadsheet, and send us money periodically via PayPal. Over time, we gave him 192 LP’s and one Garth Brooks 6-CD G. Hits (which I convinced him to take although he mostly didn’t want CD’s). Over 17 months or so, he sold some 82 records for us (I never asked him for a receipt, nor did I question a selling price). He paid us $100 up front (long ago credited against sales) and 4 times via PayPal (what he said was the 50/50 portion, which I don't dispute). He kept trying to get us to turn over our entire collection, which I told him (from Day 1) would only happen gradually (and I knew it would depend on how he handled the first 3-4 sets of 50 or so). On July 13, 2020, he texted me saying he’s ready to ‘buy us out’ and that he was tired of ’50 at a time’. When I said No Thanks to ‘buying us out’, he became more and more negative towards me, he wouldn’t give me an updated list, nor send me the most recent money due, and when I sent him a list of the 102 LP’s and one Garth G.H. CD I felt he had left in WI, he stopped responding completely (he wouldn’t take nor return my calls, nor return my texts). After I finally got him to respond, we mutually agreed to end our agreement, and that I would drive up to pick up the remaining 103 units he had. I sent him one last list, and he texted me back that he found ‘all but two’, and they would be ready for me (with a check for the most recent sales) when I drove up on Thurs. Sept 3rd. Naturally, when I got there, he made sure he wasn’t there, and had me work with his wife. When I opened the box, there was a check for $126.50 (for recent unnamed sales and 2 he said he couldn’t find). I was expecting 102 LP’s (and the Garth CD set), less 2, but I counted, out loud, in easy listening distance of his wife, 66 LP’s. When I asked where the rest were, his wife said I could go thru various bins, where some might still be. I found one Beatles album, and his wife said, ‘oh yeah, that has your number on it’… She then said I should keep looking, and when done, highlight the ones I was still missing and Ray would either send me the rest, or compensate me further. She specifically named 5 Billboard 1960’s Songs of the Year Albums, Ray just had texted her he recalled. While I was still going through some bins, Ray texted me to ‘leave his store’, there was nothing of major value left. Of the 34 (maybe less 2 he was missing), two were Beatles albums (one never opened), 2 Bee Gees, Bad Company, Stevie Nicks Bella Donna, Rod Stewart G. Hits, B. Manilow G. Hits (2-records, never opened), and Van Halen’s first album. Those all have value and he knows it. Telling me to drive up 84 miles each way for all but 2, when in fact, he was 34 short (which he now admits to on 9-15) was bad enough, but to ‘Text me and ask me to leave’ when I was still searching, is just a total lack of class. I even helped him move some heavy furniture one day at a relative’s house who had passed (I offered, he accepted). 10 days have now passed, and I haven’t heard back, and once again, no reply to my email and text yesterday. He has no intention of compensating me for the 32-34 units, which I now deem ‘stolen property’. I was willing to accept $5 per missing album, and considering the artists involved, that is ‘more than fair’, but he won’t respond. He's now trying to count the early $100 twice. As a 40-year business professional, I would highly recommend avoiding this store and it's "Shady owner Ray Zirkle". Shady Ray left me a V-Mail on 9-15 swearing at me twice. Still waiting for album...
Read moreOn August 25th 2017 at around 5:00 pm I stopped into this store with my children and was treated so incredibly disgusted I will make sure to let every collector I know to stay away. We happened to be driving this way when I stumbled upon this new business. I drove around the block because I missed the entrance. My husband is a big collector or records and with his birthday the next day I thought Ooh I will find him another awesome last minute gift. My 2 foster children and I walked in and looked around and walked to the back. My son who has a record player in his room and has found an appreciation for them was looking in a tall bin of 45s with me. Right next to where we were standing was the bathroom with the door wedged completely open. My three year old looked at it and said she had to use it. I walked her to the bathroom and stood outside the door where she was in there for maybe 30 seconds. When she came out I was on my way back to those 45s when the owner from across the store screamed at me, "You could have asked!!" I said, "Excuse me?" He said, "It's common courtesy to ask to use a bathroom and ours is not open to the public!" I said, " Well I'm not the public I'm a customer who was about to spend $50/$100 in here and your bathroom was wide open!!" I grabbed my kids and walked out and told him good luck being a small business owner in Racine county treating people like garbage! I let him know that I will let all other collectors to stay in Milwaukee because I have never been treated so poor in my life! I am assuming he thought that because I was a girl dressed in work clothes with two small chidren we were stopping in to use the bathroom and run, but we were not!! Do not give this company your money or time,...
Read moreI visited Time & Again for the first time and had my nephew with me. The experience was over the top. I've been collecting vinyl and memorabilia for over 40 years so when I saw all The BEATLES items - both vinyl and collectibles in frames and books I had to buy some treasures to take home with me. Then Ray (I think that's the owner's name) was talking a bit to my young nephew who is just getting into "vinyl" records and GAVE him a few for FREE. I mean, THAT is the type of business that I want to trade with and I will be back again and again. My nephew ended up buying a few things and I bought some BEATLES books and more vinyl and wanted to buy the RCA Nipper Dog (remember, "His Master's Voice"?) but it's the store's MASCOT. I totally understand. I have to say that this place is so bright and clean and makes he makes it easy to find what you want in his store - AND........ there's an album being played while you shop. I'm giving "the wife" my shopping list for Christmas and with his reasonable prices I think he's going to need a shopping cart for her when she walks in the door next week. FIVE STARS out of...
