Went here for dinner and after having 4 drinks, and waiting over 2 1/2 hours ( I’m not complaining about the wait, after all it is a Friday night fish fry and we got there during there busy time) the bartender looks at my son and says I sure hope you’re the one driving tonight. Seriously, 4 drinks in 2 1/2 hours does not make me a bad parent or a drunk! Than she proceeds to ask my son where he goes to school, pumping him for information on how far we need to drive to get home. Just so everyone knows we live right down the road. While she is questioning him she goes to hand me my drink and it slips out of her hand spilling all over me and my phone. Okay, so accidents happen but to be honest I’m already in a sour mood after her judging my parental skills. Finally we get called into dinner. Guess what, only one table was occupied in the entire dining room. So...... in other words they were just holding us at the bar to make more money on drinks???? Hmmmm......... Okay, so fast forward, we are seated and head up to the salad bar. After about two bites of our salad here comes our food. Not only did we not get to enjoy our salad but we never even got our soup. Waitress comes back to check on us when it’s time for our to go box. Brings us a box but no bill. When we get up and go ask for our bill, the lady asks us which table we were at . Seriously, the other table was already gone and at this point that makes us the only ones there. We tell her the table number but I’m sorry I don’t know who our waitress is. We had one person take our order, ome person tell us our table number, one person bring us our food and another person bring us a to go box.and she says yah, it’s kind of a group effort. I’ve worked in customer service my entire life and I hate to say it but your group effort leaves a lot to be desired. I will admit though that the cooks certainly had it going on because the food was very good! Okay, so rant over. Not sure how I feel about going back again anytime soon. I don’t care how good the food is, good customer service is just...
Read moreSolid place! We've only been here once - and I'll start with 3-stars. It's good enough for us to go back, so I might go up in rating. But for now, this feels right!
This feels like a classic Wisconsin dinner joint. Nice, large bar area with plenty of seating. The type of place you don't mind getting there early and enjoying a few drinks and apps at the bar. Plus, their bar wraps around all the way to the outside patio that is open all year round. We didn't go out there - I'm fairly certain since it's "outside" this is a smoking area so we avoided it.
Another way in which this feels like a Wisconsin dinner joint is it felt like there were a TON of regulars. Not so much so that we felt uncomfortable walking. But, you could tell people go here every Friday for their fish fry!
The bartender was super friendly!
Their food was decent. Good. Not great or outstanding. But super solid. Good enough for me to want to go back and try more things off their menu. Classic food. We had the chicken wings and lake perch. Wings were solid. I like that you just ordered exactly how many you wanted. They had a nice variety of rubs and sauces, too! I find that in Wisconsin, sometimes it's hard to find a place that does dry rub. Their lake perch was good. My only complaint (and more-so curiosity) was my wife ordered the single order of Lake Perch. It came with 5 pieces. It just didn't feel like much food? And I think what through me off was they offered a 1/2 order so I confused that our full order came with an odd amount. Does the half order only come with 2 pieces? 3? If 3, why didn't we get 6 pieces? See what I mean? I got confused. I digress...
They have a HUGE fried fish menu every day which is nice! I'd go back and try more things on their menu for sure.
If you're in the area, it's a place for some solid, classic American food.
Weather-permitting, they have a ton of outdoor seating and a...
Read moreHad an appointment nearby and decided to meet a friend here for lunch after realizing Spork was sadly closed.
I’m not really into writing bad reviews, especially within the restaurant industry- because I formerly worked in the field for years, so I understand how tough it can be… However, I feel people should know the food is honestly just terrible. We did their lunch buffet and salad bar. Their chicken was chewy and dry, the salad bar was just sad, and they had styrofoam plates & plastic prepackaged dressings which was very odd. Their mashed potatoes & gravy were completely flavorless. The taco meat was unbelievably greasy and did not have a good flavor at all. Half the taco shells were broken. The list goes on. Our table was also dirty. The waitress was nice and meant well, but for not being busy in the least-she was terribly inattentive and blatantly ignored me (after making eye contact as I waved my hand at her) when trying to get her attention so we could finally pay and leave. I had to track her down up front near the bar after sitting with our check for well over 25 minutes. It was also a very dark and dingy atmosphere in the back restaurant area. I would not go back, and normally I’d give a second chance.
I’ll just end with this: You have a lot of competition in the area, and I think there’s a lot of room to evolve for sure. Even just being a “bar & restaurant” most places do better. I sincerely do hope this review is helpful to take those steps at bettering...
