I think that how you feel about that restaurant really comes down to what you are expecting.
My family, and I think a decent amount of people choose the buffet. It has increased in price lately, so you need to decide whether or not it is good for you. For me, the food reminds me of my great grandmother's cooking, and anything that reminds me of great grandma makes me immediately happy.
Why the buffet works for us: Me: I eat weird combinations of foods and hey, I can pick exactly what I want. Sometimes I want four pieces of baked dark meat chicken. Sometimes I want extra potatoes or extra green beans. There's always a few unique things on the buffet that I am willing to try.
My Husband: My husband will destroy any mashed potatoes in sight. Does he eat other things? Yes. But he can have as many mashed potatoes as his heart desires.
The kids (7&4): I mean, they are kids. They change what they like every other week. With the buffet here, I can always find something that they will eat.
Things to know - even if you are not a salad eater, I reccomend checking out the salad bar. You can find things like cottage cheese, whole hard boiled eggs, fruit, jello, applesauce, and generally some kind of "fluff" dessert. If they have breakfast buffet leftovers, I have seen doughnuts as well. My kids will make sure to eat at least a decent meal with protein and veggies as long as they are promised a trip to that end of the salad bar.
Sometimes there is a huge line. If that's the case, I'll normally throw a granola bar or some dried fruit at the kids to keep them from going cannibal and we will find something else to do and come back in a half an hour. We rarely encounter a long line because we aim to do lunch at around 3pm - then we can head home and a have a light dinner of all the stuff we have bought from the different places in the area.
I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant. The rest of my family lives a few states over, but when they come to visit, I usually take them here. For someone who grew up in a farming community, they produce a delicious version of the bigger meals I would come to expect during...
Read moreToday, Aug. 9th, once again I went there as I've been there multiple times through the yrs. & for the last several yrs. I now have a mobility scooter & today was treated like an outcast by the assistant manager, which I believe her name was Amy. I was seated at a round table near a door that was constantly being entered in & out of & she did seat me but didn't give me a menu & when the hostess came by, I asked for one & she never brought it to Me! After waiting over 15 minutes for a waitress, Rebecca came to me & said she thought the one in that section was going to take care of me but she hadn't plus I told her I'd never gotten a menu which she promptly brought me. While the food I ordered was excellent as always, there was no excuse to have been treated like I was by that assistant manager. Yes, I do prefer sitting in a booth & am very conscious of how I park my mobility scooter, which is ordered by my Dr., & it isn't in the way of anyone or blocking an aisle & in fact many times is behind the last booth. No, I don't allow other ppl. to move it as that's not good b/c I may need it & yes at times I've asked to be seated at a table with chairs moved. Now restaurants & their employees only survive if they have customers & in my opinion Dutch Valley management needs some sensitivity training for handicap individuals & just to let you know I'm facing some serious medical issues in my life with a procedure tomorrow & I wanted to have a great meal today at one of my favorite restaurants. Rebecca, my server, is one of the best I've ever had there so hopefully if I'm able to come back, I'll see her!!! Updatshe had se: Today, Aug. 15th I went bk. after talking to Kim from 📞 her like she had requested &I'm happy to say my dining experience was fantastic & I did get to meet both Kim & Erica so all is right now & my server, didn't get her name , was awesome! Ty, so 💓 much for what you did & Dutch Valley is still one of my top places to to dine & enjoy rdg. a book, that I always have with...
