China Palace — Restaurant in Sumter

Well I went to China Palace on last night mainly because you can pay for a buffet tray & fix a variety of different food on one tray. The cost of the large tray is $11.95. They have a sign that say the tray must be able to close which is understandable, but while fixing my food I could feel the owners staring at me like hurry up & to my surprise the man came over to me while fixing my pepper steak and told me I'm not allowed to just get the steak. I already have onions and green peppers on my tray while waiting for him to bring some more and Honestly it was one uncomfortable experience. It was mostly green peppers and onions you can barely find the steak. How can you tell someone how to fix their food once they've paid they money. I told him to put up a sign saying you could only scoop the steak, green peppers and onions. He continued following while I was fixing my food. I'll never refer someone else to their restaurant & will drive all the way to Danzell Chinese restaurant before I step foot back in there or just keep my $11.95 in my damn pocket. No business owner should think...

Called in and placed a takeout order. Two large Buffet plates and a small chicken fried rice and egg rolls. One of the large Buffet plates were correct. The other was wrong, they left off the broccoli and beef. And after I paid a lot of money so I called and told them that they left it off. A girl answered the phone and she was nice and she said that they would replace it if I came back in and she was trying to explain things to me and then some Chinese fella grab the phone from her and started talking, telling me that I was wrong calling me a liar and I’m like I don’t wanna fuss about beef and Broccoli. He kept talking over me. I was very nice about it and I told him don’t worry about it but I know that I was right because I always order the same thing and he was very rude and disrespectful. And he was so loud he was almost yelling. Also the general Tso’s chicken was so hard you couldn’t even eat it on both of the plates. But I will say the girl was very nice before he cut her off. So that’s why I gave it to 2 stars otherwise I would’ve...

THE THRILL IS GONE BABY!!! 😢 This was my fave chinese buffet since childhood. It was notably small, but more than memorable.

I just ate there for the first time since the reconstruction... & the über deliciousness seems to have faded. The egg rolls were smaller & less flavorful since before. THERE WAS NO SWEET AND SOUR PORK ON BUFFET EITHER! What happened to my tasty flavorfulness?!?! Maybe it died with the old building. Maybe some crucial staff did not return. Maybe the flavor left with the roaches.

I not sure of the answer, but I am also not sure if I will ever return .

(To their defense, if you never had it before in the old building, it will be a relatively satisfactory experience for you...except for the fact that the prices are 3 to 4 dollars higher...presumably because they have to pay for that new...
