Decided to visit The Shrimper for the first time tonight after moving to Sumter, SC in 2013. Absolute horrendous display of customer service skills! Stood at the counter for about 3 minutes before any staff member acknowledged me. There was a young lady at the register more focused on tapping on the touch screen and the assigned staff to take orders stepped towards the drive thru area to drink from a cup. I was finally acknowledged by a staff member and asked if she was the manager. She stated that she was the manager and I began to express my concerns of the customer service on my first ever visit. The young lady that was more focused on tapping the touch screen then blurted out about how she was not working. The manager tried to explain to me that she was a manager not on the clock and I tried to explain to the manager that from a customer's view point it's unacceptable because she still is a representation of the company, and the least she could've done was acknowledge a customer by simply saying hello or someone will be with you shortly. During this dialog, the manager on shift on multiple occasions tried to rudely get her word in. I was looking forward to ordering two dinners along with a side order, easily a 25.00 profit for The Shrimper, but decided to walk out and never step foot in that establishment again. I'm starting to notice a lot of eateries in Sumter, SC hire unprofessional workers that do not respect the concept that the customer's experiences and purchases ultimately determines the success of a business along with their...
Read moreI had high hopes for this place, alas, it didn’t happen. I stopped here for lunch (recommended by one of my fellow drivers) and the friendly cashier greeted each of us in our group enthusiastically. The two drivers I accompanied received their lunches promptly. Meanwhile, I was very patiently (and hungrier) waiting on my meal.
I ordered one Chicken Tender, Mashed ‘tators & gravy, and two biscuits. The staff kept calling out and bringing other people’s food BEFORE mine and I questioned it. I was curtly told “they’re working on it” by one of the kitchen staff. Ok, I sat back down @ my table and waited patiently some more.
Again, I saw more people getting their food before me and I asked about the progress on my food. Keep in mind the two drivers have been eating their food whilst I’ve been waiting on mine.
I asked the friendly cashier & she asked the kitchen staff and I heard, rather rudely, “Chicken tenders take 10 minutes to cook!”, okay, hold the line, she LIED to me when she told me they were IN THE PROGRESS making my lunch 😡
Rather than being informed in the BEGINNING I’d not bug them relentlessly….
Docking two stars for the rude kitchen staff, three stars for the sweet cashier and the food, after waiting a...
Read moreThis is a review of the Shrimper restaurant in Sumpter South Carolina. I met there with another veteran friend for a casual afternoon lunch this is about an hour and a half trip from where I was coming from and I had never been there before. We both had dine-in and we both had combo platters which included shrimp and fried catfish along with french fries and coleslaw and a drink each. First and foremost customer service is a six star⭐. The ladies working behind the counter are absolutely fantastic besides coming over to let you know that the food was going to be just one more minute, to asking if you needed refills to coming over with a smile and asking you how everything was this is a long lost art people these women are absolutely I cannot say enough fantastic at customer service.🥰 The food was very good ,decent portions ,not small but definitely not huge. The price was to me so so at about almost $30 for two of us to have combo platters with drinks and tax . I guess that's about the going rate though these days for lunch. If the portions were slightly larger this would be a five-star restaurant all day long as far as value, taste, portion size and...
