I went to this place because my son's school was at a wrestling meet. We arrived around 5pm. No one hardly eating on the inside, we picked a room in the back since we'd be a large crowd. Plenty of seating! I went to the bathroom and here's where it gets gross. The last time it was marked clean was 2/3, I was there on 2/11. There was toilet paper here and there, the soap dispenser was broke off the wall, there was paper towel in and around the sink... Then sitting at our booth, I noticed the table hasn't been wiped down so I got some of my water and a few napkins and did it. Not sure when the last time was they wiped down salt and pepper shakers but eww, they were sticky. I was just praying for good food at this point. My son wanted their meatball sub... Which later the waitress informed us wasn't happening because they were out of meatballs. So pizza it is. Their food was fine... Pizza was thin crust and we had to order it because no pizza buffet this night...a Saturday night. They still has the salad bar though. My hubby ordered the chicken tender dinner, big crunchy tasty tenders with it, coleslaw and fries. He ordered ranch with it but I had to refill from salad bar. The menu hasn't been updated...I went to pay and it was more than I expected because waitress said their prices had gone up. No warning about this... Not extremely happy that we paid $12 for chicken tenders dinner, $7 for personal pizza, almost $3 for a Pepsi. The service was ok... Not great and not bad either, but this place needs a...
Read moreI don't think there would ever be an instance where I would say that this is the best pizza I've ever had. In fact, it's pretty pedestrian, but worthy of crushing during buffet hours. I will, however, lend a full 5 stars because this place is a national treasure. The light up neon sign over the buildomg greets guests with it's warm, basking glow. Is it a pizza joint with bowling? Is it a bowling alley that makes pizza? A street with tasty pies?
As soon as you walk in your eyes are greeted by the black and white tiled floor, antique baseball gum homerun machine, and a window offering a glimpse into the Pizza kitchen, and you instantly know this place is legit. As you walk further towards the dining area, you descend into what can only be described as a family's love affair with this restaurant. It's a pizza restaurant in a museum.
Classic arcade games, pinball, wood paneling out of the wild west/Mississippi River steamboat era, Looney toons on the TV, and a huge marquee with lettering straight out of a small town movie theater. Each room offers it's own unique charms. There is no place I've ever been quite like it, and if you are ever in Sumter, you should make every effort to stop by. The staff are friendly, the food comes quick, and the price is right. Definitely a welcoming place for families as well. I hope that they are around for many...
Read moreWhile my waitress was nice she was covering the entire restaurant alone during the lunch buffet so she wasn’t able to provide the best service. The food was hot and tasted great but the menu prices do not match what is being charged at the register and the staff including the owner claim “They never even noticed it before” No you’ve never been called on it before. Also when it was brought to his attention the greedy manager didn’t honor the menu completely. I ordered a two topping pizza, sweet tea and fries. A one topping medium pizza before taxes is $13.10. An additional topping is $1.10 for a medium pizza yet told the cashier to charge me for the next menu item on the pizza list that was $14.86 loudly exclaiming “That’s a two topping pizza!” Sir I couldn’t care less if it was a genie in a bottle. Print an updated menu or stop nickel and diming your paying customers. The fries were supposed to be $4.00 and rang up 4.10. Same for the drinks, they were priced at 3.00 and came up $3.10 all before taxes. If the prices have gone up that is fine but print a new menu so your customers are aware. Treat your staff better even on the stressful days and stop raising your voice to anyone especially your staff in front...
