Abarrotes El Primo — Restaurant in Sun Prairie

Hands down my all time favorite Mexican joint for Sun Prairie and EVEN the MADISON Area! This place has a little grocery store along with the best food as well! We we struggling to find a true authentic Mexican joint and found it! We tried the Lengua Tacos, Ribeye Tacos both a la cart and had their amazing Steak Torta! All for one affordable price too! I honestly have nothing bad to say!

I was reading some of the “1” star review and some one is opinionated based on their food preference (still don’t think they deserved a 1 Star) and the other review was just not acceptable... I find it funny how she commented saying the cashier quoted them wrong pricing (sorry we’re human) and then also mentioned that she didn’t have the best Grammar? .... yet nothing on the food... so please I hope you disregard their comment and honestly just try it for yourself. For those who live 30mins out, it’s worth the drive!

I can’t wait to go back on the weekend to try their lamb taco and then also their slow cooked beef soup! I’m super excited! Still after a few hours of eating here I still have a smile on my face :)

Our favorite tacos. This has not changed. They are my favorite tacos, and they are Bree's favorite tacos. We have been to many places, and overall, our family's heart remains with La Hacienda...but we have never had tacos better than these. Just look at the photos. Tiny chunks of steak dream and cilantro laying on a bed of fresh corn tortillas. Add a few roasted jalapenos...and pick a sauce (red or green...we can't decide which is better). I drank a tamarind flavored jarrito, and together we each had two of the best tacos of our lives for like, twelve bucks. Unbeatable. Thank you for the dream food...still...

Wanted authentic mexican food and that's what I got. Walked into the place and right away was taken back to the little shops I visited in Mexico. Sat at the bar and immediately was helped. I ordered the steak chicken and chorizo tacos. You can see the cooks preparing your food right in front of you which is always fun and adds to the experience. Recieved the food quickly but if I had to wait an hour for it I would've. IT WAS AMAZING. Very simple but the flavor was outstanding. Added a little bit of their house hot sauce which made it even better. Definitely will be going back to try their...
