The splashpad is great but the park is almost unusable, especially in the summer. The large slide is basically not functional; the angles in the design are so sharp that its painful to actually use as anything other than a climbing tube, how can one slide at a right angle? The turf is a rubber composite and gets so hot in the sun that it burns kids feet. They also recently added a chain to the pictured swing that makes it impossible to get your kid in and out without the latch hitting you or them in the head. The rest of the small slides, swings, and gym get so hot because the turf is radiating heat that it burns to use those as well. The whole thing is just so much hotter than the outside actually is, it's uncomfortable to be in. It's the first time EVER that my son got heat sick and we were there for an hour. I just cant emphasize enough how uncomfortably hot the turf makes this park. It's a busy park because kids will play with anything but it really needs to be fixed...
Read moreWe were looking for a new park to take our grandchildren after lunch at Gus's Diner. We found Wetmore Community Park by looking for nearby parks on Google. It popped up and we went to check it out. The splash was nice with very creative sprinklers. The there of the park is flower gardens and butterflies. The canopies over the tables were butterfly shaped. The sprinklers were flower and garden critter shaped.
The playground equipment was nature themed with spider webs and leaves. The equipment itself was well designed to be challenging yet safe. Lots of green space to run and play in. There are also two large shelters for parties and picnics as well as modern restrooms. Our grandkids...
Read moreWent to a Tuesday night Tunes there and had a lovely time. There were many people, but enough room to breathe and move freely. Many people brought low chairs to watch the concert. We threw some blankets down and had a picnic dinner while we listened.
My girls headed over to the playground and splash pad during the concert. The playground was packed and is clearly meant for older school aged children as the structures are very high and seemed difficult for my little ones (3&5). They enjoyed the splash pad immensely. I love the large rocks around the area. Not only are they a nice landscaping piece, they are helpful to sit on and watch the...
